The Assassination-the official enquiry.

Indeed, Baron. The truth will out. All those who can still answer will be questioned and rank will bring no privIege. The MoJ are not kingmakers but the bringers of light, defenders against lies and corruption.

And hopefully fleet footed, sneaky, and willing to spend the rest of their lives on the run. Those of us that survive the inital investigation, that is.

Yup that's us. Nobody ever said we were the good guys. I'll leave that to those IRIS bozo's.

Firstly how badly was the Imperial Household compromised and are these opportunists or true blue Dulinor loyalists? Will they just throw in with Lucan when they realise that the power transition wasn't quite as smooth as planned? Was the Ilelish Guard completely full of traitors or were there a few loyalists amongst them.

Border, these are all good questions. May I suggest that you, the Baron, Kafka and Whartung worry about that aspect of the investigation. I would like to proceed by looking into how Dulinor and Windhook got off planet after asassination.

Is that hole in Capital's defences still open? If not, I think we should look at other ways that traitors could get off Capital...Y'know...just in case there's another regicide.

Yeah. That's the ticket. In case there's another asassination attempt. I'm looking to prevent another escape...

*strokes beard while trying to figure out how to explain his attempt to procure forged travel papers to the Imperial guard*

Ok then.
Who do we begin questioning first?
Household staff?
Relatives?
The Officers on duty that day?
Individual gaurds?
Who has the holo vid records?

Who Are they? What are their names and current locations?

Where will we conduct our "iterview" sessions?
The court?
In public?
In the Local Lock up?
A nice dark room with bright lights?

Oh, there are multiple holovid records available - signals technician Giigrushikaad "Bud" Murashuushirar had set up a nice little operation. You see, Archduke Dulinor hadn't been at Capital for a while, and the Imperial Insider network made Bud an offer he couldn't refuse for a holovid of the event. Yes, the Ministry of Information routinely makes exerpts of the daily logs available, but the trashvid services like to get shots of the young noblewomen in their audience gowns...

So of course, Bud was expecting to get a nice patriotic scene fed into his crystals, and instead got the story of the century. In a week copies of the whole event were all over Capital, in six months you could get them on Terra and Regina.

Digital variants started popping up after a year or so. The first ones took a while to get the security encryption just right, and were used by different factions to 'cast blame' - from the pro-Dulinor "Lucan did it and framed the Archduke", the pro-Margaret "she tried to warn his highness but was knocked down by the treacherous guardsman", all the way to the paranoid "everyone but Lucan pulling the trigger" and the macabre 'gag' versions where the customer can place themselves digitally in the scene.

So you can have almost any holovid version you want.

"Who is responsible," as any righteous, pure-blood, loyal Solomani can tell you.........

It was a Hiver manipulation that went badly. The Hivers want to absorb all human interstellar civilizations into their federation in order to control and dominate them to insure peace (and to kill K'Kree when necessary).
