I'm working on a cheat sheet (one page front only) for running tasks for my players... Yes, the duration table is my own, I'm past my moratorium as of June 1, and I like having a "time chart" to move up and down on for running tasks (hasty goes up one, extra hasty up two, cautious down one, etc). So, am I missing anything significant in my list below?
Code:
1. Select and add appropriate Characteristic
a. If immediate action (2D or less difficulty), no Characteristic
b. If cooperative task, Characteristic of character with highest skill
c. If alien, Characteristic Equivalence table, p63
d. If multiple simultaneous tasks, halve Characteristic
2. Select and add appropriate Knowledge, Skill and/or Talent (or JOT minus 2)
3. Determine standard task duration
4. Add or subtract any Mods to determine Target Number
5. Roll #dice based on difficulty:
1D Easy
2D Average
3D Difficult
4D Formidable
5D Staggering
6D Hopeless
7D Impossible
8D Beyond Impossible
6. If difficulty greater than applicable skill/knowledge/JOT levels, This is Hard! Add 1D.
7. Special task?
a. Hasty tasks: duration down one level, difficulty increased 1D (adds 1D to Uncertain)
b. Extra Hasty: duration down two levels, difficulty increased 2D (adds 2D to Uncertain)
c. Cautious: doubles up one level, difficulty reduced 1D.
8. Roll difficulty dice
a. if opposed, lowest successful result wins
b. success if less or equal to Target Number
9. Spectacular? Success (three ones), Failure (three sixes), or Interesting (both).
