T5 On eBay, again

I don't really know. It would be interesting though. Certainly, from the few that have gone out, it seems odd that one would appear for sale so fast. I'm just surprised that it is being "scalped" at 2.6 times the purchase price.
 
Seems odd to be a kickstarter supporter, and presumably a biggish one at that to already have it, and to immediately stick it on Ebay. I'd have thought that kickstarter supporters would do so to, you know, get and have the book.

Oh well, what do I know?

If the seller were an initial beta-tester and a kickstarter supporter I believe that he/she may have more than one copy available for their use.
 
If he was also a beta, he has the beta update disc. From looking at the seller, he either is selling off his collectibles due to finances or is a newish dealer.
 
I guess it's theirs to sell, but it's pretty maddening to see people selling their books before mine has even shipped.
 
Yeah, it's a good thing I'm broke or I'd jump at it. Stupid I know, but my Beta disc came two weeks ago and I'm still waiting for the book I bought last month and paid thirty bucks for priority shipping on...
 
I got the CD-rom, but could not afford to jump into the 100.00 slot.

So I lucked out and got the cheaper one on Ebay a few minutes ago.

Of course the whole logjam is because Marc has himself and I think Darlene, and a few friends here and there doing piles and piles of books per day, and there are a lot of KS specific levels of packages. A herculean task.

The guy selling said in effect "I'm not going to be playing this." Non-specific reason.

I lucked out, sold my house yesterday so I used a chunk of the down payment to buy T5 Core, just a luck thing. Amazed there was not a huge bidding war, but I guess all those wanting T5 core bought it from Kickstarter. Hard to say, guessing.

I told my wife, when it arrives, "There will be no dealing with me." I'm converting my Mong Trav group over to T5 next month.

Good luck to you all still waiting, it will get there and it some spiffiness. I love my cards of nobility and TAS. my players said "Damn, I wish I had jumped in, etc to the KS campaign."

I'm a T5 Kickstarter supporter and have yet to receive mine!

I am thankful to the Ebay sellers that made it possible for me to actually get one of these. At the time I could only "Kick" $100. Now Thanks to an Awesome Seller I got the Book, the CD and the Dice Set for $199.

While I am proud to have corresponded with THE Mark Miller creator of Traveller, It's safe to say that this is the last Kickstarter program I will contribute to, especially with the blog post about how we just contributed money to a good cause and aren't guaranteed to actually receive a product.

I will cherish the signed book if and when I finally receive it and I have found more than one copy of a RPG Core comes in handy.

I find that the smart move is to just wait until they come out on Ebay.

Could you please point me toward that post? I've not run across a statement like that yet.

"There will be more packages put together tomorrow and the next day and the next day and after that until they all go out."

Emphasis mine.
 
Once the project is funded, you'll receive a product, but until it's funded, you're simply expressing your support for it. You're not charged anything until funding hits 100%; that's the basis of Kickstarter itself, as well as its crowd-funding competitors.

There is no guarantee of a product from a funded project, but there's no guarantee of essentially anything, ever. Risk is always present.

Kickstarters have failed to deliver, but far from the majority of the time. Those instances tend to get quite a bit of publicity.
 
I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but that wording in the blog scared me a bit about investing in such products. Worded as it is I could be left holding the bag if Mark runs out of books or just overlooks my order.

On the other hand, Paypal is ruthless about making sure sellers deliver purchased products. I had no doubt whatsoever that I would receive the Ebay book I ordered.

I think that update message (a) echoes the standard definition of what KS is, and (b) explains why on international shipments where customs duty is owed, a $75 book is valued as $35. It's because you DON'T buy the book. KS is not a retail transaction in that sense. The book is a thank-you gift to some of the investors (depending at what level you pledged at) ... as far as Customs is concerned you are getting it at cost.

I don't know how many books Marc actually printed but as I understand it there will be regular sales through his website once all the KS orders have been fulfilled. I may order a second copy myself (just waiting for the dust to settle first).

(Actually, I'm hoping some more of those T-shirts will be available. I accidently ordered too big, which turned out to be a bonus because they're really comfy to lounge around the house in.)

Based on past experience I'd be more worried about the eBay sale (even with Paypal protection) than Marc's KS.
