T5 Errata Thread

You won half the argument. Marc disagrees with your suggestion on the positive efficiencies.

An answer for Negative RU...

Negative Efficiencies produce fractional amounts...

Efficiency -1 will multiply by 0.9, -2 by 0.8, -3 by 0.7, etc. Efficiency 0 still multiplies by 1 (as per RAW), so an Efficiency of zero really is an Efficiency of 1.

I post this here because very likely new RUs will be available at Travellermap before an updated errata sheet is posted.

Does this mean that 1 and 0 for efficiency is the same? If so, consider eliminating Zero. Consider it anyway as a reduction in complexity.

What's up?

Ok, so, we're end of May, last errata was in July of last year. We know Marc was not so well recently but we heard he was better. Is he actively working on an update to the errata? When can we expect something? Just to put things in perspective, the expected delivery for the Kickstarter was december 2012. Release was one year late, and one year after that we're still waiting on a definitive errata. I'm all for being patient, but at the VERY LEAST we should be informed (by Marc) of where things stand.

Yes, it's time to get an update, even if it's "hang on".

I'll make a call in the morning.

Nobles / Subsector Capitals

Several notes here...

Lanth: . . . And yes, you can have a subsector capital without a subsector duke.

The various Noble Land Grant TC-Association Tables should reflect this for Subsector Dukes.

C6/Soc = fDukeWorlds with Ix=4+
C6/Soc = FDukeWorlds which are both Ix=4+ and are Subsector Capitals

Page 372 "Jump Exit Flash":

A ship leaving Jump Space emits an active flash of broad spectrum energy equal to Ship Size plus Mod +4 (less intense than Entry Flash)

Ship Size plus Mod +4 is the same intensity as the Jump Entry Flash on the same page. The table on page 371 also says Entry/Exit Flash are both Ship Size + Mod +4. Suggested fix: just remove the words "(less intense than Entry Flash)".

3 possibly mistaken examples

On page 478, 3rd, 4th, and 5th paragraphs, I believe all of the examples are incorrect as regards the Trade Classifications (TCs) in the Cargo IDs.

According to the TravellerMap data (differences are bolded):

Regina's TCs = Ri Pa Ph An Cp
Zivije's TCs = Fl He Hi In
Chronor's TCs = Hi Cp

But the examples have the Cargo IDs listed as (differences are bolded):

Regina = A Ri Cr7000
Zivije = B Hi Fl Cr8100
Chronor = C Na Ni Ic Cr8200 Zh

I believe I have confirmed that all the TCs in the TravellerMap data are correct, so I think these are all errata.

Edit: The prices appear to have been calculated using LBB6 rules (Cr5000 +/- whatever).

Page 490, in the CHECKLIST, step 2.B.3: I can't find any cost modifier due to starport in the descriptions nor in any of the examples. Is this leftover from a copy/paste?

I had to choose between the whole errata or fixing combat... Marc's latest combat notes have gone out to the five chosen commentors... But we are moving forward.

Pulse Lasers

Something I noticed while throwing together a starship design spreadsheet.

PG 342 has listed "K Pulse Laser TL-9 Turret R=7 MCr 0.3
but it is not listed as a defensive weapon. Should it be?

The PDF I have does NOT have it listed AT ALL in either Weapons or defences, and they appear to be the same print version ( Print Edition 5.0 ).

Note: in the current Errata v0.71 P.41 2 Space Ranges (Correction):
Beam Lasers should be S=7, not S=5.

Shouldn't Beam Lasers be R=7? Thou S=5 would be right if we assumed that the Beams were max'd via TL Stage Effects.

Drive TL Stage Effects

The Drive TL Stage Effects Table on Pg338

Should it use the same Cost Mod as the table on Pg 500?
I am assuming it does thou it wasn't listed in the current version of the Errata.
The errata lists this issue with the tables on pages 341 to 343.

Beastmaker rules p. 581, Chart 7. It states to roll Flux, specifies no DM, but the chart extends to -6 and +6, neither of which are possible. Either that or the text with the DM got cut off at the bottom of the chart.

There's a general note on that already in the errata. Marc envisioned Referees using their own Mods/DMs in many cases. My view is that means more flavor text is needed.
