How Screens Work, Effect, p. 396

On p. 396, Effect, the Appearance. paragraph near the bottom of the left column appears to be repeated at the top of the right column. Perhaps the Appearance. section appearing in Effect should be deleted.

ELECTRONIC SCRAMBLER, Baseline Device, p. 399

On p. 399, ELECTRONIC SCRAMBLER, Baseline Device, last sentence of Option Directed starts, "For an Electronic Mag Scrambler R=4..."

Should remove the word "Mag".

Also in Option Strong in both ELECTRONIC SCRAMBLER and MAGNETIC SCRAMBLER on the previous page, there is a superfluous back-slash (\) at the end of the 2nd sentence.

THE GLOBE SERIES, p. 403

On p. 403, THE GLOBE SERIES, ARTIFACT BGS, Ancient Artifacts, the last sentence (3rd sentence) of the first paragraph on the left column, "The Artifact BGGs..." has no continuation.

Also on that page, Reproducible Technology, the last 2 lines are disjointed and do not relate to the section. There appears to be some missing or displaced text.

Starship Combat task format boxes, p. 406

On p. 406, Starship Combat task format boxes for THE AM ANTI-MISSILE MODE ACTION, top of page, has an incomplete box for Guidance (Guidance Mod). It is not a full box but just the top line of a box.

To the right, THE ANTI-BEAM AND ABSOLUTE MODE ACTIONS has a box on the right with no notations for what it's for.

Starship Combat, A Attacks step, p. 407

At the end of A Attacks step, p. 407, the last sentence has no continuation, "When all defenses and attacks have taken palace, the..."

Starship Combat, Missiles step, p. 406

On p. 406, Starship Combat, Missiles step, example in last paragraph should be printed as "= 4 - 3 - 5 = -4. The single turret is ineffective; it cannot roll equal or less than -4 on 1D."

Starship Combat, Attacks step, example p. 407

On p. 407, Starship Combat Attacks step, the example given in the left column for Meson Screen TL-11 should say, "A similar attack against a Large Bay mounted Meson-Screen Mod=+8 produces a Target Number -2 + 8 = 6 and complete defense against the Meson Gun."

Collisions and Ramming, p. 409

p. 409, Collisions and Ramming, Ramming section: after the first two lines, there is a gap and new text that begins with "e." It is unclear if there is text missing.

Also, the section heading "Comments" near the bottom of the left column should be in bold.

The Space Combat Round, p. 410

On p. 410, The Space Combat Round, some text was recopied from the Personal Combat tables without editing for the fact that space combat rounds are about 20 minutes each, not 1 minute.

The incorrect text reads (2nd paragraph) "On average, however, a Combat Round is about a minute. At the end of combat, count the number of Rounds and equate them generally to minutes (a ten Round fight probably took about ten minutes)."

Space Combat tables, Missiles and Attack, pp. 412-413

On p. 412, Space Combat tables, Missiles, the task format boxes for THE AM ANTI-MISSILE MODE ACTION has omitted a box for Guidance Mod. Previously on p. 406 there was a top line of a box, but not even this was reproduced on this page.

There are similar omissions on p. 413 for the task format boxes:

THE ANTI-BEAM MODE ACTION: Again a box at the right with no explanation, and the phrase "Nuke Mount Mod = 0" is not present as it is in p. 406.

THE SPACE WEAPON TASK: Missing the word "Mount" as on top of p. 407.

These are probably alignment errors.

Space Combat tables, Range Change, p. 414

On p. 414, Range Change table, there is a reference on the bottom left to

"Agility = Power Plant Potential minus Current used Gs, or
Maximum Gs minus Current used Gs."

but this concept is unexplained in the main text for Range Change pp. 407-408.

Gas Giants and Belts, p. 427, probability difference

On p. 427, Gas Giants and Belts, 2nd para., it gives the number of gas giants in the entire stellar hex as 2D/2 -2 (ignore fractions and treat less-than-zero as zero).

Since a roll of 6 or more on 2D will give at least one gas giant, this gives a probability of 26/36. However, this contradicts the long-standing principle in past TRAVELLER editions, and in this edition p. 421, that you have at least one gas-giant in the system (hex) on a throw of 9 or less on 2D (probability 30/36).

One possible correction is to round fractions UP instead of ignoring them. Another possible way is to use the formula (2D-3)/2, ignore fractions. This would produce a greater number of gas-giants overall, but rolls of 5 or more would produce at least one, so the probability will harmonize at 30/36.

Worldgen Checklist (A), The Second Survey Format example

On p. 431, top, an example planet "Miigamshiirshag" is given in the Second Survey Format:

--The StSAHPGL-T line is not filled out to reflect the fact it has a Population code of 6 (mentioned later in the PBG block). Most entries are zero: E300000-0.

--Under Stellar, a stellar companion is given as M3 VII but no such size VII is given in the Spectral Size and Type table p. 436. Sizes end at size VI.

World Dimensions, ALTERNATE DENSITIES EXAMPLE-1, p. 447

On p. 447, World Dimensions (Table 01), Alternate Densities Example-1 is totally incorrect for resulting G's.

If the density goes from Earth-standard 1.0 to 1.1, the total mass of the planet increases to 1.1 of what it was before. For the same size planets, their gravity will increase exactly 1.1 x. Yet for an Earth-sized planet Size 8 we read that the gravity will suddenly go to 2.13. This is thoroughly incorrect.

Alternate Densities Example-2 (Density = 0.4), however, is correct.

Populating Local Hexes (table 14a), p. 462

On p. 462, Populating Local Hexes (table 14a), there is the wrong illustration and text. The illustration is for a Terrain hex which was already presented on p. 460. The hex should be a Local Hex, in the other orientation, and numbered for random Single Hex determination in a way similar to the World Hex of p. 458.

The text for General Concept. should read: The Local Hex is divided into 75 Single Hexes, which are numbered..."
"Each Local Hex is 10 km wide.
Single Hexes within the Local Hex are 1 km wide." (not 0 km)

Trade Goods chart, p. 481

On p. 481, "Aged Meats." is not printed in bold type like the other names of trade goods.
"Branded Clothing." is only partly in bold.

Random Trade Goods, p. 486

On p. 486, the Ag-2 column, roll no. 4, mentions item 5, "IR Emitters".

That is not in the Trade Goods chart. Probably it should be "ANIFX Emitters" which are the infrared "colors".

In the As column, roll no. 4, item 2 is "Fused Metals". That is not in the listings of trade items anywhere, so not described.

CONSOLES, CONTROLLERS, COMPUTERS AND BRAINS, p. 520

On p. 520, CONSOLES, CONTROLLERS, COMPUTERS AND BRAINS, right column, Computer Notes, "KCr. Computer cost." Should be MCr.

The 5 Stages of Psionics, Third training session, p. 531

On p. 531, The 5 Stages of Psionics, THE THIRD TRAINING SESSION, Teleport Distance. 4th print line starts "excluding As a practical matter..." so the text is garbled. Anything missing?
