T4 eratta

I would give First Survey slightly more credit if it were a good idea for a book in the first place. Even if the UWPs weren't buggy, it wouldn't be a good book, since it lacked anything beyond those raw numbers, and produced incoherent results, such as a multitude of TL 13-14 worlds (which is completely inconsistent with the canon history given in the T4 book).

First Survey is a shame. Upon reflection, it seems unlikely that a book like that would be useful. Doesn't it seem like adventures require specific subsector maps? Beyond that, sector maps make okay wallpaper, but without software to manipulate them, well, the ref is still doing all the work. No?

I can see what 1st survey was trying to be - a complete mileu book with all the UWPs and maps a Referee could possibly want, all in one volume. The concept was sound, but like most of the T4 range, editing/execution/completion was hit and miss.

Personally, I like the concept of a "big book of space maps" (but then I'm a general map geek anyway). But individual subsector maps are mucho handy for adventures.

I like large chunks of T4 but *despise* the task system and some other bits; I generally use it as a resource for later-mileu games, and to "link across the eras". I sometimes play "hunt the planet" across all the books I have to see what changes, etc., and ususally start with T4.

Yeah, real *sad*, aint I............ ;)

*NUDGE TO MODS*

Anyhoo, Mods, shouldn't this and the other T4 related thread be shovelled into the T4 board?
