Have you addressed rules for Robots either as equipment or playable characters in the T20 rules set? Or are they to be the subject of a supplement all their own.

Yes. Both.
Traveller has never been big on robots, so playing a robot character would take permission from the GM and a little work on both player and GMs part.
But hey, the DGP people wrote an entire campaign around a group with a robot PC with essentially the same rules as are in the T20 book. So it can be done.

Slightly off-topic, but does anybody remember an RPG from the early 80's called Droids? It was set in a post-apocalyptic future where there were no humans - I vaguely remember something about a researcher dropping a vial of some deadly biowarfare agent - and the players were robots. To create your character you had some points which you could spend on parts - motors, wheels, limbs, weaponry, sensors, etc. It was quite clever, and probably only I played it
