In the new Dune movie, Duke Leto did not need a Mentat to tell him that accepting the Emperor's command and going to Arrakis was a bad thing, Not accepting would have meant House Atreides was defying the will of the Emperor with worse consequences.
 
Come on, give Strephon a break! Dude lost his wife and daughter! He's in mourning, probably with a big dollop of survivor's guilt. Little wonder why his judgement is off.
