Stereotypes and conventions

All RPGs have them, stereotypes, conventions, similar situations that tend to pop up regularly in actual game play. So does the old 2300 AD universe too, and they are not necessarily always bad... if the referee knows they are stereotypes and conventions and is able to play around with them.

To start off the discussion I'll name one: there is always a deranged person on board of a spaceship or an enclosed space that is bringing the plot forward through sabotage.

Kafer intelligence isn't based around violence and all that stuff they tell you in the sourcebook. It's actually dependent on if the Kafer is alone or not. A bunch of Kafers, no matter how long they've been shot at, will work more like orcs and come at the players in large hordes, involving wave attacks to attempt to overrun them until the players run out of ammo like in "Aliens."

If a Kafer is alone, however, it will stalk the players using supernatural skill (e.g. "always roll 10 on the dice for stealth checks") and the game will become more like "Alien" with the lone Kafer stalking and killing NPCs one by one and sabotaging key systems in the ship until the players finally corner it.

Oh, and the Kafer will always use the ventilation ducts to get around the ship.
 
The PCs spending a nice afternoon in town buying mountains of weapons and especially grenades. And somehow always managing to carry them with them even to another planet without any security check.

French intelligence is always behind everything dastardly.

Nobody in law enforcement seems to notice that AmeriCo is a major crime syndicate.
 
All towns in the frontier are similar in character to either a U.S. midwestern small town or a rowdy 19th century frontier settlement
