Stat that Japanese Movie Monster

I once used the Giants series of modules for 1ED AD&D in a CT adventure.

My players loved it, since they threw everything but the kitchen sink at the giants I just had them die when it was ... cinematically called for.

All they had was an ATV and it's pulse laser got taken out early...now that I think about it this might explain why they never took anything but a starship on groundside adventures .

I would just go for drama, and cheesey special effects.

As for hit points...I would only let the heroes kill one when they have been punished enough!

I have to admit, I saw this flick on many a Saturday afternoon. I usually caught the last hour or the opening first half.

It's actually on region 2 DVD from Europe. I'm sure there's a Japanese DVD somewhere too. Where is anyone's guess :)

Hmmm...
Godzilla Vs Unit 01...
If you've ever seen the 2002 movie Godzilla X Mechagodzilla, then the (Alien) Mechagodzilla in the YouTube clip, is woefully underweaponed by comparison...
If Unit 01 a/k/a Hiryu a/k/a Mechagodzilla fires it's Absolute Zero weapon, a/k/a its "main gun", then it's "game over" for the Big G....
Needless to say, if the group stays behind for any reason, then it's time to roll up new characters....

What next? Stats for the cloverfield monster?

If this is going to relate to traveller, let's at least keep the monster as being from outer space.

Now, for real japanese cheese, try "The X from outer space". Damn, that was a cool one.

Think of it this way, instead of monster island imagine monster planet.

Saw "The X From Outer Space", not enough kaiju action in it for me, but the lady American scientist was a babe :smirk:

Hmm cool monsters to look for would be the ones from the movie The Myst.

Good stuff and reminds me a bit of the Cloverfield monster and something you might see on a weekend Creature Feature.

Interesting choice. I've not seen the film, so I'm unsure of what it's really all about.

Any other movie monsters come to mind?

Another one I thought to try and adapt was the monster that took over the cruise ship in the movie 'Deep Rising' with Treat Williams in it. It would be an awesome monster to have on board a salvage ship the PCs are hired to deliver a team to for salvage.

The premise of The Myst was a very nicely done. There is little to no explanation of the monsters or their origins. It deliberately kind of leaves you in the dark. Which really adds to the movie. The fact they are from another world and all show common adapations to an evironment not of Earth is very nice.
