But the armor is still ignored so the marine in battle dress is still going to be a greasy smudge in a very big crature.Originally posted by MichaelL65:

And so on. So in the instance you gave, it would attack a person with 13d8. Most likely, the person is going to be just a scourched mark in a crater.
This is where battle dress becomes a real plus in combat: its considered a vehicle. Any person attacking someone in battle dress automaticly gets a -5d penalty. [/QB]

What happens if you use a starship weapon on a person?, say a beam weapon from a Patrol Cruiser. I would imagine it does more than the SI damage rating 3d8 from its triple turret.
No, a laser from a battleship is the same as one from a type-T, but the battery sizes vary, so the battleship shoots 20 or 30 at a time at each target giving a big modifier.Originally posted by Jame:
Would a battleship (say) laser firing on a Type T Patrol Cruiser get any modifier?
I would say it is the weapon. If you can mount a starship laser and a power source large enough to power it on your backpack, and convince me you can move it enough to aim, I'd give you the +10dOriginally posted by ChrisR:
I have a question regarding scaling up/ down in combat. What happens if you fit say a light artillery piece, normally fitted to a vehicle onto a starship? or for that matter a marine in battledress (a vehicle) firing an auto pistol?
Is the +/- 5 dice based on the weapon or whether it's a vehicle or starship doing the shooting?

My dear Travellers,
This Brings up a point I have been debating with my Ref. (I sometimes ref as well)
We have been considering upgrading the LAG to a "support weapon" and getting the +5 dice.
Considering it's a 20mm cannon, we think it would be approprite. (It would give all those punks in Battledress a reason to duck.)
What are your thoughts on this?
The downside is of course we could be on the recieving end of things as well.

Firing a Spinal Mount weapon from the hip? This is begining to sound like Anime and Mecha. BESM/Traveller d20 fusion anyone?
What about a model T ford with a mounted WWI weapon vs a TL14 marine in battledress.Person against vehicle: subtract 5d
Vehicle against person: add 5d
Starship against person: add 10d
Are you arguing in favour of the model T with a light artillery mount (5d12 damage) or the Marine in BattleDress (AR10 for TL13 as listed in T20)?What about a model T ford with a mounted WWI weapon vs a TL14 marine in battledress.
