Star Wars vehicles using TNE

Has anyone else tried using TNE and Fire Fusion and Steel to duplicate Star Wars technology? I played around with it a little bit, but the starship weapons in Star Wars were so short range (<1000km or so) for Capital Ships. I did duplicate a lightsaber but as a continuous fire particle beam. Subspace drives worked for lightspeed and hyperspace. My strangest work was the Death Star. That planet shattering "laser" was challenging. A particle deam fizzled out and wound up with a bore that was several km in diameter, you could park a supersize star destroyer in it. Tried doing it as a laser, but rather than exploding the planet we wound up with a hole drilled through it. Not healthy for the planet but no boom. Then we tried plasma and fusion weapons, but the ammo for that was the size of a starship. Not practical. Plus it simply incinerated the planet and anything close by and it was very short range. Then we came to the meson guns. Nasty little things. Took up as a bay the entire top half of the death star to make it trainable. Really long range, no more going around planets to get to your target. Just blow up whatever is in the way and fire again on the target. Took alot of power and needed alot of capacitors but we used antimatter to power the Death Star. Of course speed was not so hot, but the number of turrets we put in would deal with any pesky starfighters real quick before they got close, add in alot of weapon bays and no more capital ship threat. Finally we add enough armor to laugh at most capital ships and poof - one death star that has no weakness.

Once I finish typing it up into the computer I will upload the design and see what you think and if the moderators will let it stay.

Some things just won't convert. As for planet crackers based on the size of the Death Star it could be considered a multi kilometer wide weapon of some kind. I have this thought that if your punched a multi kilometer wide hole through a planets crust (assuming an Earth like core) that the pressure release on the mantle may split the planet apart. Nothing like the explosion in the film though.

If you want Star Wars ranges you need to change the formula for ranges - for lasers remove the gravitic focussing, for spinal weapons add or change the range multiplication formula to bring ranges down to the now reduced laser ranges.

This may make the plasma/fusion weapon ranges again usable in a "close" range space combat. I think there was an option in the T4 version of FF&S which allowed the plasma/fusion guns to used fuel from the ship rather than cartridges which may be of use.

The reduced range may allow Mass Drivers to be viable as space combat weapons at these close combat ranges.

Star Wars

I know, the funny thing is most starship weapon ranges are in 100km increments. As for the planet buster, the Meson Beam is the only one that can actually do the job. I sat down and actually worked it through. Lasers only punch a hole, C-PAW and N-PAW have problems when crossing the atmospheric envelope. Not to mention the PAW open tunnel that anyone can fly down, screw the 2m exhaust port, head for the several km wide gun port. I did manage to duplicate the blaster the people used, but as plasma weapons. Worked really good with minimal recoil. Blows the heck out of whatever they hit though. Funny thing was the lighsaber turned out to be a continuous fire particlebeam that focused into a blade 2m long, and was TL-17 and did 15d damage. We triple checked the math on that one and it weighed less than most flashlights today.
