Star Trek TOS d20 PBEM?

My Lords, would anyone be interested in participating in a d20/t20 Pbem set during the Star Trek "Original Series?"

The Background so far is that the PCs are crew aboard a Saladin Class Destroyer, from the old technical manual, on patrol near Starbase 11...

PCs can be any federation species they wish. Heck, even tuff from the Cartoon is ok by me...

SO if you love both the game and the old show, let me know what you think...

Maybe, but since I'm already in a PBeM and a monthly f-t-f, plus the job search, I may not be able to. You know my email, so please send me a brief overview.

sounds interesting. I will have to see though if I can fit it in. If you have anymore info though, please post or send to my email addy. You have it already.

I do love the old show, and I'd love to play, but I don't have the d20 system. I do have the old FASA rules, and nearly every sourcebook they put out for it.

I found a 30+ page PDF document for d20 Star Trek, but I cant figure out who wrote it... It is also made to be played with T20! Does anyone have info on this? Its called d20 Warp or something...

Expanded Background: Players all serve as officers aboard the USS Pegasus (NCC-512?) , A Hermes Class Scout assigned to exploration of several star systems in the unexplored area near the Romulan Neutral Zone. The Pegasus operates from Starbase 11 (From the "Menagerie" and "Court Martial" )

The Pegasus is being used as a testbed for an experimental Photon Torpedo Launcher, and a launch Berth for two of the new 7 man Shuttlecrafts.

Its mission is both scientific, and military in nature. Starfleet Command wants a detailed overview of the extent of Gorn, Tholian, First Federation, and Romulan power in the region, in addition to data and First Contact info.

We would be looking for the following player character types:
Captain
First Officer
Medical Officer
Science Officer
Engineering Officer
Security/Tactical Officer
Navigator/Tactical
Helmsman
Communications Officer

NPCs
Nurse
Transporter Cheif
Red Shirts
various mission specialists (hot gal of the week)
Other Navigator
Other Helmsman

The Campaign Starts the day that Starfleet makes the switch from the uniforms and equipment seen in the Pilots, to the costumes and phasers seen on the Original TV show.

Granted it's a pbem not an online game so time isn't as much of an issue but the Fasa Trek game was made for TOS, is light and simple (it reminds me of a BRP Traveller esp. if you rip out the combat rules), and is "out there" and shouldn't be too hard to find used.

The d20 warp stuff doesn't look too bad for t20. With Trekrpg.net still under re-construction I'm not suprised this conversion is on a different website and seems to have just "appeared". I like how it uses the free LUGTrek ship books for ships though 1) those aren't currently available with Trekrpg.net being down 2) I'm not 100% certain (esp. not having a current copy of the netbooks to look at) how they'd integrate with T20 even if used in whole (using LugTrek spaceship stats and combat).

However, it's your game and sounds like it would be fun. I'd sign up except I'm behind on running a ftf FasaTrek game.

Are we talking about the same TOS game from the Late 80s/early 90s? With the three light blue books? I agree that its a good presentation... Character Creation leaves something to be desired... it was a good game, but no one ever wanted to play it... plus, im not a big fan of FASA... they seem like bad geeks...

Yes. There are two FasaTrek books for TNG and some for the movies but the basic rules are set in and around TOS timeline.

basic book listing
less authoritative but with pictures listing

The original edition was one book, 2nd edition was split up into three books. More races were added in later books (STIII/IV updates come to mind) and the chargen reminds me of "pick your skill" houseruled CT on steroids. *Lots* of d10 rolls.

Well regardless of your local situation it certainly seemed to sell well enough when they still had the license. Locally I remember it rather prominently displayed for a non-TSR rpg in the major bookstore chains at the time. I'm slightly puzzled by why you think FASA was (being no longer in existence) "bad geeks" but it's your opinion and all. FasaTrek is not related* to the later d6 dice pool Fasa rpg systems.

Like I said before it's your game though. When it comes down to it it's the gaming group and the game itself that really matters and this is a PBEM, not an online chat or ftf game.

I say "Bad Geeks" because of the two that I spoke to a while back, when buying for a bookstore... they flaked on a pretty big order... I still have yet to determine what exactly went down, but these two (names forgotten) acted a LOT like the Comic Book guy from the Simpsons... except that it was not very funny...

That, and a lot of their products (opinion) were a little finite and bleh.. as if they did not know when to stop devloping Ideas (or overdeveloping them...)

Well, we're all entitled to our own opinions. Personally, I love the FASA version of Star Trek. And I won't touch the d20 version with a ten foot pole.
But that's just me. If everyone liked the same game systems, there wouldn't be much variety out there, would there?

True, The d20 one has flaws... and I don't understand the focus on "Probes" in the pdf... but all in all its way more adaptable and more accessable to others, unless they are all "Lee Stirling"s

Still, it would be regrettable not to be able to use the term "Unc Thresh" in a sentence...

No! For battle come to ME!

Oops, that's TNG not TOS ;)

Does the TOS d20/T20 system include the Core Character Saving Throw feat? That's the one that allows a saving throw to be made for any attack, with success changing damage result to "Shirt Torn" or "Hair Tussled."

Great Early Bad Worf Reference! From a Terrible Episode, no less...

the Shirt damage scale would begin with Red = Death? Blue = shot by some monster or creature, event/etc. but lives/made example of... And Gold? why, Ripped, of course...
