Specialized Missiles?

Besides the regular ones there could be

Mine-missles: hover silently or cruise slowly on preset course until they find a signature that meets their programing. Then they drive down upon it. Favored among frontier merchants as a way to leave a "present" behind them for pursueing corsairs.

ECM missles: An active ECM with a rocket propulsion, used to imitate a spacecraft. Widely used.

EMP missiles: shreds the targets computers with an electromagnetic pulse. Loved by pirates who desire that their prey not be destroyed. Paradoxically also liked by police for the same reason. Also used in trade wars when causeing to many casualties gets the Imperium's attention. Cannot cause damage to a military vessel but does great harm to a civilian one. Depending on the setting damage can be temporary or permanent.

Courier missiles: messages to another part of the fleet carried in a missile

Sensor missiles: fills a similar tactical niche to a sonobuoy in pre-starflight wet navies, but is self propelled.

Of these, arguably none except a EMP is a missile as normally thought, but all are self-propelled and use a similar mechanism.

Perhaps the ECM missile is a "one-shot" ECM program simulator that allows the firing ship to attempt to jam enemy missiles just as the ECM program does, but only for one combat turn?

IMTU I have plasma missiles. They are similar to a bomb pumped laser missile, only in the sense that they are a one-shot, self-propelled, homing energy weapon platform. The missile is designed to fly within 4,000 km of its target, and then blast the target with the same effect as a standard plasma weapon. Since a plasma weapon is larger than a laser weapon, I have reduced the range to 60,000 km since some of the fuel has to be taken out to fit the larger "warhead".

One other, very feasible possibility is the IR Flare Decoy Missile: a missile that simply generates a large-enough heat signature to divert incoming enemy heat-seekers away from the launching vessel and towards itself instead.
