Sounds like one of Grandfather’s experiments gone awry. Or his sons going off the reservation, making something cause they can.

Maybe a smaller version was loosed on Earth making an imprint on our collective genetic subconscious.

I better support my idea of what is essentially the same as the drone shows...
.....only, this device would be armed...

...Because the "person" who designed and built it was wealthy and came from a TL E or F system where they have the holographics, gravitics and power systems to do it

I would think Grandfather style would be antimatter or quasar dragon.
