Solomani Confederation

I'm looking at using the new T5 rules for a game set in and around the Soloman Confederation, current year. I was wondering what suggestions folks would make to adapt the chargen system to create Solomani Navy, Marine, and SolSec careers. Also, how would you go about Home Guard?

Good question. I would, of course, use the Agent career for SolSec characters. As for Party members...I'd either modify the Noble career or the Entertainer (or use both :) ).

I think modifying the Noble career would work, though i doubt any of the players would be interested in a Party career... still, you never now.

Of course, I need to mod the Navy career slightly too, to take into account that Solomani Navy fulfill the Scout roll as well. I'm thinking of adding in one of the double entries to roll on the Scout tables instead. It's a rough fix, but would work I think.

I would use the scout service as another branch of the navy rather than as skill roll, since in the Imperium the scout services works with the navy on military ops. It would save on a lot of rewrites and fudging, and would just be another choice for the character during creation.

How do the Solomani Navy and Marines differ from T5's Spacers and Marines, respectively? Titles or ranks, perhaps, but what are the substantial differences?

Good point. I like the fact that the T5 careers are made to be as generic as possible, so you need to only minimally "fudge."

You just need to have a good write-up for your players for your campaign. The write-up would show the players how to use the careers in your campaign.

If you can get hold of the Solomani book then the write up is there, with you only needing to tweak it to your view and universe.
