So 'where is' Traveller 5 now?

I havent been up on the latest news about Traveller 5 so I was wondering where is the new Traveller version at this present time now that all the copies have been sent out and the rush has died down?

What is being planned, do we know anything concrete about future plans for this version? Is it going to get ane edited copy or is this current copy of the rules 'it' ?

Is it going to just die a quiet death or live on somehow? If revision/expansion is planned how is this going to be carried out?

How does Traveller 5 fit with Mongoose Traveller which, from the sound of the latest books incoming, is likely to get a major resurgence if interest?

Do we have a future release schedule on Traveller 5 stuff at all?

Marc is working on both revising the core book and doing a player's book derived from the revision.

Expanding on what Aramis said...
  • The Core Book has been published.

  • An errata is being compiled (free download of current version of errata on another thread). Marc took a hiatus to deal with personal matters but is now back. There is talk about a revised version of the Core Book that incorporates the errata and how that might be distributed but AFAIK nothing is set in stone.

  • Once the errata is done there is a planned Players Book (subset of the Core Rules).

  • The deckplans promised in the kickstarter have been published.

  • Galaxiad is pending.

  • BCS is pending.

  • Greg Lee’s Cirque campaign has been published.

  • The data behind the TravellerMap.com website is/has been updated to be T5 compatible.

What I’d like to see is more T5 setting stuff. And more third party support.

Hmm so as I thought then, its pretty dead in the water. You know I can't help thinking that what Marc has done with this Traveller 5 is the worst thing he could have possibly done with Traveller. All its doing is splitting up the fans into T5 and nonT5 players, with the latter probably being the saner of the lot. I can't believe anyone is even entertaining the thought of trying to fix T5 by just sorting out the errata. What a joke of a job that is. As if magically doing that will create a workable playable system?

In case he hasnt noticed games are getting simpler these days not more complicated.

T5 really needs to be cut down (and I mean by a lot here), completely rewritten, put through playtesting for half a year or more, and only then released as a gaming system. Adding in the errata is going to do nothing.

Such a shame Traveller is becoming such a joke really.

Hmm... if you don't want to be part of fixing the issues, even after all the discussions and posts, why troll in the T5 forums?

I've always assumed that folks posting here are wanting to be part of the solution, even if T5's solution requires some work. Your post would lean the other way.

So I'm going to do something I've rarely ever done... I'm going to lock this thread for now and let you calm down.
