So, has anyone considered the humble suitcase?

Hi All,
So, I have a very detail-oriented player who want3ed options for his travel storage.
Because of that, did a search on the forums and didn't see anything that wasn't too specialized for Agent or other operational use.

Following that, I did a "first pass" and this is what I came up with.
Now, I want more and hopefully better minds than mine to comment on my idea.
I've attached the Ver. 1 PDF here and I hope you can all lend a comment

Thanks in advance

For a Traveller character, I'd think an advanced version of this would be the thing:

The humble "sea bag" holds a lot of stuff, is manageable in getting around the starport, etc., durable as hell, and just an all-around winner. Still use mine after 45 years. Hasn't met an airport baggage smasher that can beat it. (Mine's the older one strap variety)

Thank you, but that wouldn't suit this character, or these players.

Hmm after reading the PDF, a few thoughts.

Emergency pressure suit or survival bubble for those not wanting to trust the ship sets.

Some travellers wile away space boredom with their own custom-designed stocked bar case or other functional pharma.

Snack case or gourmand supplies. Minifridges for this or the bar, especially for the fussy whose goods just must be at x temperature and humidity.

Auto laundry including dry cleaning and pressing.

Pet carrier with toys treats and vacc suits.

Super advanced/artifact stasis luggage. How does that delicate spider silk gossamer dress come out perfectly Couture with nary a wrinkle? Only Grandfather knows!

Servant support gear for private chefs, tailors, masseuses, hairdressers/cosmetic etc.

Specialized luggage for athletic gear for vacation or perhaps a travelling athlete.

Upgrading smart moving luggage to full bot, able to have complex inputs for unique actions and problem solving.

Luggage so stylish and attractive and expensive it temporarily confers +1 SOC.

My merchant crew had a pet seedspitter and my belter couple has a pair of ship's cats - for pets in space, there's a pressurized carrier with a magnetic bottom so it stays anchored and mesh padding all around the inside so they have something to grip in zero-G. IMTU pets are trained for zero-G so they don't panic and injure themselves.

I have a character in a story that I am working on who uses one of those, except camouflage-colored.

Thank you all for participating, but the point may have been missed.
Admittedly, my campaign has been running since 2007, so some of the characters who've been there from the beginning have amassed a fair bit of gear.
Add to that the fact that staterooms are very tight spaces. Even when only one crew member lives in it.
Because of that, a spacer enjoys moving "off ship" when they can - and, when a ship is taking an entire week for resets, refresh, etc....

So, yes, you can stow a week's basic clothing into what is advertised as overnight bags. I've done that for nearly every convention I've been to.
(except where I have to fly and move electronics)

But, look at your record sheets
If your character has been around for a while and isn't a minimalist, you're not getting everything into the overnight bag.

And, "sometimes" you don't wanna look like spacers....
.....maybe you don't want the spies saying "That one" as they point at you.

That was the mindset I'd hoped to hear from.
Still, I've made my decisions
Thanks for your comments

You can vacuum pack clothing, which could be done organically in an airlock.

If it's volume, then it's more a question of compressing empty space, if you can't utilize it for another object.

Weight's easier, since materials that are lighter can be substituted.

Late to the thread, but at the start of my last Traveller campaign I gave each character a "spacer trunk"; a Traveller version of the classic age of sail sea trunk. A 1500x750x750, grav floater that follows the owner and is vacuum proof. All their stuff goes in there. They may even need two of them and stack them in their stateroom. No stats like cost or how much mass it can handle. It's a box you keep your stuff in. Common sense rules apply.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Think about this. When you vacuum pack stuff on Earth (or a planet with atmospheric pressure) that pressure is what compresses the item into a smaller area and package. You are removing the air and the atmosphere crushes things down. In a vacuum, removing the air just means there is no air in the bag anymore. It doesn't get crushed since the outside and inside are at the same pressure now.
