[Shipyard] Tathoe S2-BA33 Vargr Courier

[FONT=arial,helvetica]Tathoe S2-BA33 Courier MCr111.8 TL13

Using a 200-ton hull, the Vargr courier is intended for transportation of messages and envoys rapidly over interstellar distances. It is equipped with the Knudhue Mark 3 jump drive, the Sizful 330m maneuver drive, and the Koellaez Foellghouk C power plant, and is capable of Jump-3 and 3G acceleration. Fuel tankage of 62 tons supports 2 weeks of operations and one jump-3. On the bridge is a computer Model/5. There are 5 staterooms and no low berths. The ship has two single turrets: each mounts one beam laser. There is one ship's vehicle: a light cutter, used as a ship's boat. Cargo capacity is 8 tons. The hull is streamlined.

The Vargr courier requires a crew of four: pilot, astrogator, engineer, and medic, with one spare stateroom. Double occupancy permits the addition of up to five others, such as gunners, emissaries, or other passengers. The ship is not intended for commercial passenger carriage.

Overtonnage: 2.5 tons

Notes: I wasn't sure what a 'light' cutter was so I just used a standard Modular Cutter. Why does an Airframe ship needs Wings and Fins? Because it's Vargr. There are a lot of 'Alt' items which are the same size and cost, but you flux the QERBS. Why? Vargr. -.^. It's just a hair overtonnage, but if a 'Light Cutter' is smaller than the standard one then it would fit. I just don't know what that is.

Why have a 'Light Cutter' for a small Airframe ship anyway? I guess off Starport landings. I'd rather have more payload for personnel and small cargo. Use a ships boat or even a gig if really needed for the mission parameters.

No slam to you. I know your just recreating in T5 and doing a pretty good job of it.

Must think of a solid, rational justification.

Ah I know, because it's Vargr!

Don't feel tied to the original. Remember, they were from a 4-year-old draft of the rules.

:rofl: The other Vargr "explanations" were good too, but this was the best.

But even seriously, not every design decision has to be completely rational, and the Vargr are known for being more, um, passionate? About some things. So the 'rationale' could be something like "They make it look stronger." (I.e. more aggressive, cooler, more expensive, high class, etc.) So individual decisions can always be done for subjective reasons. Just consider the source, as copperhamster has done here.

Send me the YML doc of this design, if you want, and I'll add it to the catalog.
