Sector data desirables?

Hi All,

I am very lucky to be part of the Traveller Wiki project.

One of the things that has crossed my mind lately is what kind of data would be useful to readers, fans, referees, writers, etc. And, more specifically at the sector level. A number of the wiki writers have experimented with various formats and lay outs over the years and the current one is a good one, but there is always room for improvement. So here goes...

*** What kind of data are you looking for in a sector data page? What additions would make the page more valuable to you? What kind of items do you search for that are currently difficult to find? What kind of additional data would make a sector page more useful to you in your various roles as a Traveller player, writer, referee, etc.? ***

Example:

If anyone has an interested in participating in the Traveller Wiki project, please contact myself or Thomas Jones-Low.

Thank you for any feedback!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

At a sector level, most regular "personal level" gaming disappears. I would still like it to be more or less as "factual" as possible.

Remove Duplicated data - For example:
Subsectors in menu item 6.4 are a duplication of the subsector names as found under the travellermap.com link. Why need both.
Combine Demographics and Native Sophonts in some manner - the lists are extensive. At the least combine them together into a two column table. I have an idea
Politics & Diplomacy (Interstellar Relations) polities are listed twice

With regards to formatting, I suggest taking a look at the CIA fact book at the CIA website. It is publicly available and contains many items which IRL are useful.
For example the United States appears as this

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/us.html

There are lies, damn lies, and statistics
Most Importantly, decide on your base data. If your data source is travellermap.com then generate ALL your derived information, even GURPS WTN's and such even if it means generating anew some older information.

Just saying.

Hi Nathan,

Thank you for your input.

Great call.

Well, mostly both exist right now in case there is a problem with the application so the data does not need to be laboriously reproduced. Text survives. Functionality perishes. Isn't that what the TNE Virus does? LOL

Combine Demographics and Native Sophonts in some manner - the lists are extensive. At the least combine them together into a two column table.

I'm guilty of that one since I find the two populations overlap some, but not comprehensively and the NIL's are important to distinguish.

Shoot. Please share your idea.

Good call. That was a source that was previously discussed many times and used as an inspiration.

I would really like to be able to hit a button and see all the Important +4 worlds in a subsector, sector, and domain.
