Found this - very simply way of creating a quick visualisation of internal views and best of all no 3d expertise required.

It's in French but the instructions are very visual.

Knocked this up in a couple of mins

Yeah, someone posted a link to a set of modular sci-fi ship interiors that someone was making based on tile floorplans. Can't for the life of me remember where it was now though...

You can also always use Daz Studio which is free and located at this website and either Davo's excellent Sci-Fi Interiors available there or the free wall and furniture available here.

Since it is all Poser material you can also add sophonts easily enough.

(This Scene is using Davo's Construction set, Little Dragon's Furrette (Free) and while she isn't anatomically correct for an OTU Vargr she serves my campaign well.

For SketchUp? That'd be cool, if you recall where...

I've been using SketchUp for sketching decks to build (the wooden outside house kind) and it works quite well for that. Still haven't tried it for starship deck plans though

Keep in mind though that the whole point to the Nimrod for the Hirst Arts crowd is to make plans for how to use the Hirst Arts SciFi molds, so you'll probably be working on the block level (part of a wall at most), at least until you group things.

The basic plans for the molds are for things like:

and:

Those Nimrod blocks have a really feel to them. I wonder if anyone has done anything similar in Wings 3d or Blender? (also free)

Yeah, but I'm looking at it as a starting point for just doing some easy ship layouts in 3D. This proves the potential is there, and I've already learned one trick I was trying to figure out on my own
So I can probably work up my own components now.

Molds are cool but I don't have the time, space, or money to get into that. A cool 3D perspective on computer I can store, share, and print for free, that's the ticket

Ron, Thanks, mate. That's exactly the link I was after. I seem to recall it was you that posted it too.

I really must look into Sketchup and Campaign Cartographer. I'm sure there are lots of things I could do to help Deckplan scribes.

For Campaign Cartographer 3, or Dundjinni, make up some objects and tiles. 200dpi, 1"=5', png files with a transparent alpha channel and a unidirectional drop shadow. Yeah, that'd work...

I use Dundjinni a great deal for my personal stuff.
