[MILD SPOILERS BELOW]
Playing through this adventure, I'm puzzled by the opening patron encounters. The PCs end up with 2 patrons: firstly, Dr Romaine of the Pan-Galactic Friends of Life (PGFL) and, secondly, Carla Ramachundra of SuSAG. However, PGFL pretty rapidly fades from the story and in reality seems redundant as a patron once SuSAG comes on to the scene, which happens immediately afterwards.
While there are some minor differences of emphasis, it appears that information from the PCs that will satisfy PGFL will also satisfy SuSAG. I'm left wondering why PGFL is even included in the adventure - SuSAG alone would work fine as the sole patron ... or am I missing something?
The only thing I can think of is that PGFL prompts investigation of its former survey team that was lost in a storm. I suppose that is a clue that the PCs could follow up although that doesn't seeem to be intended as it never gets mentioned in the adventure again.
Anyway, to conclude, is there any real harm in leaving out PGFL from this adventure?
