Proto-Traveller: milieu DK1570

So many Milieus! Cool.
Milieu 1889?

Take GDW’s old Space 1889 system (1-6 d6 system) tweak the attributes and see if I can come up with stats for the “ether flyer”.

As BillDowns pointed out, Kryo Legion would be a better name for what I called Kryo Knigts above. Lets use the name Kryo Legion from now on. Kryo Knights will then be reserved for anyone entering the service with a soc-B or higher (and with a clear criminal record).

Great

Now, an all important question

:D Does this Legion have battalion bordellos like the original?

The 'Kryo Knights' is a great idea, that would make running a mercenary campaign really easy.
Get the urge to run a nasty little meatgrinder?
Defrost a few PC's, and feed'em into the blender.
Heck! You don't even need continuity, when doing this, since the PC's are assumed to be unconcious/sleeping.
Check out the 'Eternity Brigade' by Stephen Goldin. It is EXACTLY what you are proposing.

I looked up that book at amazon, and from what is said there it is not "EXACTLY" the same. But is is quite similar.

The Soldiers of the "Kryo Legion" may after any term quit the service, and exchange the points he have collected for land or other benefits. The "Kryo Legion" are NOT soldier slaves.

I have been thinking about fleets for the major empires. In my opinion the fleets shouldn't be very large. (Since I want to keep a proto traveller feel of the game.)

My suggestion is to set the maximum shipsize to 50k ton, and postulate that no major empire has more than 50 ships with spinal mounts, and less than 100 ships over 10k tons.

Another reason for this is that the major empires just recently has grown stronger than the "the Pan Galactic Trading Guild".

BeRKA, why even as big as 50k tons? Edwardian-era (pre-Dreadnought) battleships ranged from 12,000 to 16,000 tons. Small could be cool, too!

I keep telling my wife that! :D

I was thinking that the PGTG having up to 20k tons ships. (But without spinal mounts.) This is why the empires has to be a bit stronger.

I also felt that 50k was a good number for the largest ships, since then they can have a good jump number, carry lots of armor, and also some ships troops.

But since 50k tons is the largest I want to allow, that ship would be the flagship. The other large ships in the fleet would be smaller.

The limited number of ships also means that the fleet cannot be everywhere, and that a subsector might be protected by a few ships in the "Kinunir" size range.

This will give the PCs lots of rooms to be heroes, or whatever they want to be...
