Possible pricing issue?

Daddicus

SOC-13
On page 305, look at tables D and E, specifically the prices. It is hard to imagine a pinnace (20KCr) costing 1/3 of the price of an air/raft (60 KCr).

Could table E be meant to use MCr instead of KCr? Or maybe add a zero or two?

In CT, an air/raft was 600KCr and a Pinnace 20 MCr.

Does anybody know if this is errata vs. by design?

I would say that is a misprint for MCr.

Mags, buy the fourth. I will split the cost with you on all four. I can always use an extra one.

Assault landings are hard on them.

Lieutenant Colonel Grady Starcross trudged away from the Mustering Out office on the rough field of the C starport, worldly belongings, medals and creditcomp slung over his back, filter mask providing only 70% normal oxygen from the tainted thin atmosphere, greatly dejected.

If the army didn't need me and greatly appreciated my decades of service and blood, why did they kick me out here at the hind end of space, Grady thought.

Now what, my muster out ticket won't even get me back on a trade route much less back to my world- do I really have to spend my life savings just to get to a desk job at Regina?

He almost didn't see the sign at Krazy Marc's, the sort of small craft dealer that crops up in extrality zones, living off the leftovers of salvage, used and discontinued models.

Such businesses were constantly hyping a sale, especially since the end of the war meant the Army and Navy were pulling out stakes here and only the smoking ruins of local industry were left to rebuild or pay for anything.

So Grady was ignoring the constant AI-generated entreaties calling him by facial recognition name and the 20 meter tall blow-up sales skydancer Vargr traditionally used to indicate Good Deals at such businesses, but due to ennui and boredom decided to look.

And could not believe his eyes.

20000 Cr? For a Pinnace?

All those dreams of being a pilot, oh better yet a FIGHTER pilot, came rushing back.

The rejection at the Navy recruiting station and submitting to the draft, ending up Army ended such dreams.

But now, right NOW, the dream could be real!

And if nothing else, he could get it shipped elsewhere and make a fortune. Self-financing, a smart deal!

But first, he HAD to fly his own bird.

They must be selling surplus from the war and the IN or maybe his own service dumped them. No buyers, desperation to get off planet, maybe?

Suddenly those credits were burning a hole in his duraduffel bag.

Forgetting all his cares or even prudent planning, Grady headed straight into the dealership.

As he stepped through the dealer's airlock, he remembered he didn't know how to fly Ship's Boats.

Well, I can learn, Grady thought, ignoring the giddy oxygen rush as he removed the mask. How hard can it be?

Referee rolls: The man in the seedy starport bar says, "No no no, you misunderstand, to SELL you one of these would require all sorts of paperwork, all sorts of certifications, it would take a long time and I can tell you are sophonts on the go, places to be, that sort of thing.

No, what this is, is a very special LONG TERM LOAN, see? One where you would have full and untrammeled use of the vehicles. It's a bargain, available on a limited time cash-only basis.

Why, yes, that counts out exactly. Here are the access codes. Pleasure doing business with you. Oh, don't use it near a Navy base. No, it didn't fall off the back of a Kinunir, but don't say I didn't warn you."
