MGT Only: Playing out a tug-of-war?

I've been thinking about:
  • Do you have to run a tug-of-war as a Task Chain?
  • Or do you just add each side's STR rolls together and compare them?
How would you run a tug-of-war?
 
I'd add the ST rolls personally. though I do have to ask - are your players having a tug of way game?

Note - and per the humorous comment above, I can see how leadership could help those rolls. Like many things you think are pure strength, there are often tactical advantages that can help.
 
I’d structure the rolls based on how much drama and importance to the story it is.

Playful romp at the summer camp or leadership conference, eh add up the strength than roll competing 2d6 highest result wins does it.

Bet on who wins the starship, a lot more incremental rolls and drama/player input.
