Players in Houston?

They are there... they are just hiding from the Texicans.

I can get you in touch with 6-8 Houston-area gamers (mostly old-school D&D/AD&D) through a couple of other discussion boards, and I have a friend there who played Traveller in the 1980s... he's in Baytown.

I'm up in The Woodlands, and I honestly don't know how much time I've got right now, but I'd like to at least try to stir the pot a little provided I don't promise things I might not be able to deliver. Things should settle down shortly so I'd like to at least know what my options are once I figure out what work is doing to me this year.

Blackbat, I think I know which boards you're talking about (I'm threetimesacleric on one of them) and I'm curious whether any of them are actually recruiting. They haven't been posting in the classifieds, and I'm not keen on barging in without an invitation of some sort.

Oh, and since it's my first post here: Hello all!

There was a thread a while back on K&KA titled "Houston area gamers' roll call".

Got quite a few responses.

No one wants to play Traveller here in western Colorado though (even the 3 players I introduced to the game) so... :(

Out of curiosity, how many Traveller gamers are on the south side of Houston (say, South Loop to Clear Lake and Friendswood...maybe beyond, if you want to drive) in case I get the itch to put together a game.

My usual group is fragmented right now. One player just had a new kid, so he's out. Another player's wife is pregnant, so he's out. One of my regulars moved to the north side (Spring/Cypress/1960 area), and he'll play, but it's a heck of a drive. Another player just, this last month, got his house put back together after Hurricane Ike tore the heck out of it last year (he came home, once the water subsided, to find a trampoline sticking perpendicular out of his roof, the inside of his house completely trashed).

My ideal game is with 3 players and a GM, but I've played with more and less before.

Just curious. I'm not really looking to put anything together just yet. But, God, I do love role playing. And, a couple of players who love Traveller is tempting.

Of course, I'd run a hard core Classic Traveller game. No MGT.

I'm in NW Houston (529/West Little York and 6/Eldridge) but make weekly trips to Asgard at 59 and Kirby. Happy to meet for a game one night a week there.

CT prefered here.

I still don't know what I can commit to as I've got an OD&D game I'm involved in, but I'd like to at least stir the pot again. If nothing else, carpooling from up here might be an idea. That, or weighting it so the game is up north at least sometimes

I'm okay with Mongoose, but I must admit I prefer CT.

During my last campaign, we alternated houses each game session, playing once per month. The game was always on Saturday mornings, starting somewhere around 10:00 am, lasting for 5-8 hours.

In the way of role playing, it's not much. In real life, 8 hours a month, on a Saturday, is a big commitment.

I would have to agree on the Saturday issue. Wives have a tendency to make you work on weekends, at least mine does. However, if its just once a month I may be able to arrange a kitchen pass.

My wife's so caught up in weeknight TV herself that it's easy for me to be gone every Monday or Wednesday night, from 5pm till after midnight, if necessary, to get some "me" time in.

I'm happy to travel for a game on a weekend or weeknight and also happy to host here (I have a gaming loft I can use).

I'm a big miniature gamer (mostly Flames of War) and have served as the mini game coordinator for the last two OwlCons, but lately I've been wanting to get into Traveller and RPGs again (Fudge/Deryni and Dark Heresy are also in my recent collection and are interests of mine).

BTW, I also have a copy of the T5 CD and wouldn't mind playtesting Marc's new system.

I live at 290 and 610. Went to Asgard for the first time this past Saturday - wound up playing in a Magic release tournament, after being on the wagon for the past 6 years.

I must be out of the loop (figuratively...and I live outside of 610!), but what is Asgard? A new shop in town I don't know about.

Heck, the ones I know about are closing up. Horizon's in Clear Lake. Gone. Phoenix Games. Gone. New Horizons. Gone.

I guess I'm one of the ones to blame. I buy most of my stuff off the net these days anyway. Amazon has free shipping and great prices.

So, what's Asgard? Where is it?

I know about Nan's and Third Planet, of course...but, Asgard? Nope, never heard of it until this thread.

Asgard is on Kirby, south of 59. Across from the big Goode Company armadillo statue, if you know where that is. They've been there about 6 months; I never noticed it, because there was a computer game store there before.

Here's their web site:

http://www.asgardgames.net/

It's mostly wargames and card games, but they have a lot of table space (unlike Nan's and Third Planet) that some people are using for RPGs.

Why is there Laughter in Slaughter?

CT, MT GM looking for players {beginners, experienced, either gender} for long term campaign in District 268.

Klein Intermediate ~ South Willowbrook Area (Hwy 249 and West Montgomery). I have my own apartment and crash space for any needing it.

I am available to play on Monday, Tuesday, Saturday.

PM me here for more info or email me at tinstaafl13@yahoo.com
