Patent of Nobility Card (where are you?)

Wiki

What I think would be really neat is if these titles were to be considered part of the canon. So, once the dust has settled (everything shipped and adjustments made), you might, for example, find Duke Stedan Sevile of Glisten mentioned in a 1116-dated sourcebook. Or run into Sir Peter Trevor of Yori in a 1116-dated adventure. Or...

Maybe that was even one of the intentions of these Kickstarter rewards.

I know you'll find Baron Joseph Hemdian mentioned in the core book (p213), though he isn't a 1116-dated character. (I should probably post his character sheet and history to my website or something. Okay, soon.)
Well there is the wiki. I agree completely and I guess I just assumed this is part of the game plan. But perhaps the only plan was getting T5 out the door.

Got the CD last week, and my KIT is from Core 2524 Glimmer

So far, a lot of Patent of Nobility Cards were issued for worlds that are 8 parsecs away from CAPITAL. Did earlier cards (given out decades ago) cover a similar area? Or were they for the Spinward Marches? I think that sector was developed first.

Just got these in the mail:

Patent of Nobility: Sir Robert Eaglestone, Lish 2635 Miigi C575789-5
TAS Member card: Anta 0406 Ukam C428532-B

(What's the world mean for a TAS card? Is that the issuing authority?)

Here's mine:

Patent of Nobility Sir ... Ley 0914 Shi E66A321-6 (A backwater Water World)
TAS Card: Antares 1611 Em B550589-9 (A Desert World - from one extreme to another)

Shi is actually one of the worlds written up in the Luriani module. A water world (97% of its surface covered in water) formerly a resort world noted for its pristine natural beauty, had a population in the low millions but depopulated during the Luriani Crisis. Scheduled for recolonisation :)

And my patent was issued before I made my name change public, so guess I'll have to win one the old fashioned way :D

Don, Rob, Can we get this fine Servant of the Throne a patent in the proper name?

Is a fix possible?

My beta upgrade disc came this morning.

I am now a Knight of the Iridium Throne for Core 0835 Baituu.

This has all made me irrationally happy :)

Thanks for the info. I, for one, welcome our new recolonizing overlords.

My alias (William Durrant) is the Duke on Patu/Core (subsector M) ... which I guess makes him the Duke of Cadion (the same subsector that has the world of 'Reference') unless we have any other Dukes from that subsector.
Wouldn't your Duchy usually be on the subsector capital world if you are Duke of the subsector? I thought that was the general rule on that sort of thing.

In most cases your duchy would BE the subsector. There are exceptions, such as the oversized Duchy of Regina, but usually any subsector with a strong enough economy to be a duchy would be a duchy. Weaker subsectors would be counties, which is where those oversized exceptions come from.

That is to say, that's how it used to be. Apparently Marc Miller intends to run a truck through all previously published information.

Nobility can be landed or not-landed. Even in European society business executives and actors/musicians are given knighthood without any expectation of being landed. No reason to assume anything.

I'm not assuming anything. I'm referring to previously published material about the 3rd Imperium in the OTU. And lamenting the fact that...

...No, forget that. I'm sorry I spoke in this thread. All we really know is that MM intends to retcon how the Imperial nobility works plus a table with little or no explanation. Until MM or his minions elucidate, speculation seems to me to be essentially futile, spinning wheels without any traction. But if others disagree, I shouldn't tromp over their arguments.

My sincere apologies for the intrusion.

Hans, We did not intend to upset you. I was only commenting on nobility in general.

You didn't upset me. I upset me because I was doing something I ought not to have done, namely commenting about how things used to be in the past in a thread that speculate on how thing are going to be in the future.
