Patent of Nobility Card (where are you?)

My alias (William Durrant) is the Duke on Patu/Core (subsector M) ... which I guess makes him the Duke of Cadion (the same subsector that has the world of 'Reference') unless we have any other Dukes from that subsector.

Meanwhile, I have knighthoods on Yori/Spinward Marches (subsector C), Marfa/Massila (subsector C), and Alard/Fornast (subsector C).

I've just had a thought. Many eons ago, when the TML was the primary forum for Traveller players, there was the Great TML Landgrab. Maybe we should have a second Landgrab based on our Patents of Nobility: Take the world you've been assigned, gather as much canonical references (if any) as you can, then detail the hell out of it and post the write-up to a website somewhere.

One of my worlds, Yori, was done in the first Great Landgrab.

This was already mentioned on another T5 thread. However, if we blocked out an area ... say in the spire. It would be a nice coti feature!

I did the land grab for the world I asked Marc for. But I haven't received my stuff yet, so... :(

I got a card with my beta disk, but I am hoping that with my kickstarter stuff I get my current other patents updated. I had spoken with Marc directly about this some months ago, but alot of things have happened since then so I am just waiting for my box...

Apparently mail is slow from Illinois to Kansas. They do have to go sociologically backwards to get here, so...

I'm from Illinois. Not so certain about that...

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

During the Kickstarter, registering/requesting noble titles wasn't 100% clear (there was a thread in the old beta forums I can't find). I recall I chose Bendor as a homeworld and had my eye on Glisten and the area (I vaguely recall entering "Duke Stedan of Glisten" as one of the fields in the form). I backed at the Spinward Duke level and ended up with the following cards:

Sir Stedan Sevile: Spin 2336 Bendor
Sir Stedan Sevile: Empt 1734 Dyani
Knight of the Third Imperium: Spin 3015 Belizo
Count of the Spinward Marches: Spin 2036 Glisten
Duke of the Spinward Marches: Spin 3124 Mora
Count Duke Stedan of Glisten: Olde 0621 Etpur
Duke Duke Stedan of Glisten: Spin 2036 Glisten

Marc included a brief note explaining the "nobility making machine messed up" and the last two aren't right. I don't want to bother Marc with it now, it's totally not a priority. But I'm thinking that Duke of the Spinward Marches, Mora, is more problematic, and what I should actually have is:

Sir Stedan Sevile: Spin 2336 Bendor (homeworld)
Duke Stedan of Glisten: Spin 2036 Glisten
(with maybe the ability to give out Count of SM Glisten?)

I asked Marc if there were any Inmperial planets called "Earl" or some variation for my Duke noble card. He was extremely busy because it took him three days to respond about the pun. ;)

And yes, I did use the name Duke in college, but was only the Duke of Earl in a strange DnD game.

What I think would be really neat is if these titles were to be considered part of the canon. So, once the dust has settled (everything shipped and adjustments made), you might, for example, find Duke Stedan Sevile of Glisten mentioned in a 1116-dated sourcebook. Or run into Sir Peter Trevor of Yori in a 1116-dated adventure. Or...

Maybe that was even one of the intentions of these Kickstarter rewards.

I know you'll find Baron Joseph Hemdian mentioned in the core book (p213), though he isn't a 1116-dated character. (I should probably post his character sheet and history to my website or something. Okay, soon.)
