ISTR you could email Marc direct if you missed the deadline, but that might've expired too. Or you could wait until it hits the shops.

I can't see Marc printing *merely* enough copies of the book to supply the kickstarters. I expect him to have copies for general sale. And if that's not good enough, it's cheaper than R2D2's b••ls to crank out more CD's by the bucket load.

I could see it, though. It depends on how much bling -- excuse, me, swag -- he can produce for Cr 290,000. Plus I understand that the money raised by Kickstarter has to be spent on the Kickstarter project. So doesn't that mean those books will have to be lavish? (No, really, I'm asking, because I don't know.)
I can also see Marc printing "a few" extras. I hear that a print run of 2,000 is more economical than two runs of 1,000. I don't know how much, though.

If he goes with a Print On Demand service, he won't have to do a print run after any initial customized copies are printed.
Often, 2000 units is less than 150% of 1000 units cost-wise, seldom more than 175%.
There are several big factors:
setup costs per run
plate cutting*
paper costs
If one can afford to buy the plates and store them, that's a significant chunk (10-20%) of the fixed setup costs for offset. But plates do wear out. Most often, they are not saved, but recycled. Per run setup usually includes plate cutting if needed, on disposable aluminum plates.
Paper costs per unit tend to run pretty fixed, but again, big enough runs mean whole rolls at discount.
Jim Baen had a good essay up on baen.com about it - noting that for anything less than several thousand copies, it's not worth their time to put it into dead tree.

Even if they could police it, the project was to produce a printed edition - once the KS copies are covered any leftover $ can (must?) be used to print retail copies.
Since you were OOI (Out Of the Imperium) at the time, you should be able to just purchase the PDF, on either CDROM or perhaps the Flash "Jump" Drive.

My interpretation is that basically Marc is willing to take preorders based on the same structure as the Kickstarter, but directly. So see the Kickstarter for options.

Quite so. And I suspect it's too early for that offer to have expired.
