Off-World Deckplans

Nice deckplan. Looks not unlike a 600t liner.
Might it be possible to add grid lines in the interior?

sure thing. I'm working on it still so its far from finished.

The one thing i noticed about some of the canon deckplans was that a fair few of them looked like "Faster Than Light Dungeons"... Now i'm no structural astronautical engineer or anything but I'm hoping to give the designs a lot more errr... practicality.

you say it looks like a 600T liner? I'm trying to figure out how big these things are supposed to be atm..the Akuma is from a 200T design i made in Ships III. Not sure if its kosher..any thoughts on improvements to match the posted vehicle stats?

cheers

Eh? I didn't think a 200dT ship could be big enough for three full decks. If it is cylindrical in form the top and bottom decks should be narrower than the middle deck. You can assume various nooks and crannies are also fuel, but you might want to show fuel along the sides of the top deck in that case.

Your deck plans are about 350 tons worth. A displacement ton is 1.5M x 3M x3M. The usual floor grid is 1.5M, or about 5 ft square, with 3 meter ceilings.

Which is within tolerance going by some published deckplans

Or maybe the grid (which I also took to be 1.5m) is actually 1.0m

But then the beds are even smaller :( Currently they're about 1.5m (short people) if dropped to 1.0m its a Hobbit Trade Consortium Ship ;)

Sweet graphic, who's the artist?

I'd make it to be about two decks high and maybe about 400 tons, just at a quick guess, mostly based on the weapons as standard turrets.

that's a work in progress graphic for the new Zaon game. you can check out the stuff thats going on in the development stages over at Zaon.com
The forums seem to be down just at the moment but when they get back online check out the 3d art from the game subforum. There's lots of discussion and posting of new ship designs and workthroughs by the 3d artists contributing to the game. They take fan submissions etc but a warning.. the standard is pretty damn high...

cheers

good first start, keep it up! there are many traveller websites with quite a few deckplans, including a deckplans webring, if you're looking for ideas.

the following boat is exactly two hundred tons (well, maybe +- half a ton).

the fuel is in the nacelles. I suppose if the fuel were in the main hull and the ship were shorter it could be three decks.

here's an updated version of the Akuma.. inspired by a couple of regulars here ;) i made a point of trying to get things right this time.. it should be around the right amount. Also out of curiosity in the SHips III designer when the readout says "Environment...X squares" .. does environment refer to the life support, grav etc?

Agreed! (as some folks round here will testify) - With that in mind, you might like some of my numerous half-finished projects:

You'll find them under the RPG section.

ahhh i do like your rendered deckplans..or whatever they're called
what do you use to make them?
oh and when is there going to be a Suleiman deckplan? ;)

It's a combination of Studio MAX and Photoshop.
I build the models in Studio MAX to get the volumes right and make sure there's enough headroom in the various habitable sections etc etc and then after rendering them out, I add the textured surfaces - if they're not allready applied in Studio MAX. It's a laborious process and usually tends to take longer than my attention span will allow - hence I've only managed to complete actual textured plans for the Rhino. I've ddone some basic line plans for the Florian and I intend to do proper textured ones when the model's interior is completed.

Plans for the Suleiman will be a little while longer. As with the other ships. I have them done as line drawings but I'd ideally like to do proper textured ones.
