Non-Imperium settings.

I was reading thru some T4 books, and it occured to me that Mileu 0, while technical a Third Imperium setting, is very different from what would classically be considered a "Third Imperium" setting.

There's also the various "once canon" 3rd Imperium - the various Judges Guild sectors, the Paranoia Press sectors, the FASA version of Far Frontiers - these were once popular/used but are now decanonized entirely (JG and PP) or, like Far Frontiers, have evolved considerably.

At the small end of the scale is Zozer Games ”Outworld.” At the large end Independence Games ”Clement Sector.” In the middle is Stellegamma’s ”These Stars are Ours.”

I was surprised to find out that the Judge's Guild sectors are available on travellermap.com,
The Paranoia Press ones too.

They are just way the heck out Trailing.

You can even pull them up via the mapmaker,
But you kind of have to back door it,
Once you pull the sector up Via Travellermap, you can click on the map and poster options at the bottom.

The vast majority of the Traveller games I have run over the past several decades have not used the Imperium, the charted space setting, or any other published setting for that matter.

Oh, they used to be in "correct" stellar location, they've just been removed over time as they've been replaced. I think that's the hardest part of being a very long time Traveller player/referee is that as tech has given us these wonderful tools, much of it has been in support of the official universe and less and less in support of home-brew.

Now, that said, I love the renaissance that Traveller seems to be having (honestly, the extended Mongoose campaigns are amazing) because they've done a great job of giving us new things rather than just rehashing old stuff (probably my largest complaint about many multiple edition games).

There are a lot of maps that are placed in other parts of the Galaxy Map. I still don't think I've found them all, but they are interesting to look at.

These are still my canon.

To be fair, Travellermap does a ton for us non-OTU referees.

For example:
I found out that the subsector generator at Zhodani Base will export to Travellermap,
With a little work you can can make a Sector pretty quickly.
Make one sub-sector, copy the data and paste it into notepad.
Click the box for the next subsector, generate the subsector and repeat until you've got the a whole quadrant, or sector's worth.
Or if you are the Lazy DM type just do one subsector, enough to get the players started, and then do the next ones as you go.
Routes can be added manually.
I do wish there was a route and border editor. The routes aren't that bad, but the borders can be a giant pain in the butt.
I once did a map for TNE, with the sector centered on the RC, So there was good buffer around the play area and you didn't have to switch between different Sector maps, editing the borders was a lengthy trial and error process.
I also wish you could load one subsector outside the map area, or offset the map by a subsector or three.
If you try to make a J-6 map in the poster maker it will cut off at the edge of the subsector, so anything within 5 hexs of the edge of the sector won't show the systems in the adjacent sector.
Still, as Bartleby mentioned it's a fantastic tool.

the TravellerMap API is great for creating your own maps and things. the border stuff is a tad tricky but I've managed to map my stuff easily enough.

The Judges Guild Sectors are in there, just not in their decanonized positions.

My Traveller campaign, at this point, has the same relationship to canon as the Constantine movie has to the Hellblazer comic - "loosely inspired by" ;)
