Mass timber and tall wood buildings are proven to be fire safe. From cross-laminated timber (CLT) and dowel-laminated timber (DLT) to glue-laminated timber (glulam), mass timber’s strength, resilience and natural fire resistance is being backed up by some of the most comprehensive real-world testing scenarios to date.

Time and time again, testing shows in the event of a fire, mass timber and engineered wood products char on the outside, forming a protective layer while retaining strength. This slows combustion significantly, allowing time to evacuate a building safely. In fact, a recent series of national mass timber fire tests, dubbed the Mass Timber Demonstration Fire Test Program (external link), show—even in worst-case fire scenarios—mass timber buildings provide strong fire performance similar to non-combustible construction. The bottom-line results: even under those rare conditions when fire services don’t intervene, the mass timber fire decays and begins to put itself out after ignition.

There is fire and then there is reentry. Maybe grav vehicles get this material.

Sam said, "We got out! I thought it would be harder than getting past burning hydrogen!"

Howie grunted, because he was busy working the controls of the gravBoat they'd "liberated" from the prison's cargo bay.

Jink scowled and said, "Who cares?!" We're out, now you gotta get us down to the planet below."

Sam nodded as he looked past the viewport, back at the prison ship they'd escaped. Having time to take a breath, he noticed the very richly-appointed compartment. With lots of real wooden appointments. Something in his gut growled as he moved to a set of displays. They weren't secured, which bothered him even more.

Checking what looked like a bank of navigational displays, Sam moved closer and started powering them up.
After checking them, Sam growled, "Something's wrong here. These displays are two-dimensional. Why was this gravBoat in the prison's cargo bays and not a gravCraft berth?"

Aboard the prison barge, the Chief of Guards stood next to the Warden, watching vislight sensors tracking the errant boat.

The Chief said, "It's a cryin' shame, Sur. They're outside recovery. Our options are to open fire, let Orbital Security do it or just watch them burn up."

The Warden could only hope there was some beaurucratic ruling that would let him get some of his money back.
He'd never considered the hazards of trans-shipping his the entirely enclosed craft from the Glisten-system manufacturers to the prison.
He'd planned to save a few thousand credits having a local friend drop it from the prison to an on-world marina.
Now, there's be an escape attempt on his record and drifting dust left behind from his very expensive yacht

Well, the Juraiians built spaceships from wood, admittedly at pretty high TL. Perhaps this is how?
That’s definitely in the Clark magic zone. I dare anyone to define a ship build rule set with a cabbit downtime avatar.

Cute.
Cuddly.
Comes with warp drive.

Looks like treated wood will be usable like steel for building construction.

Maybe not good for reentry hull but useful nonetheless and a reminder tech can go in different directions.
Or, maybe just fine.
The Chinese had a recoverable spy satellite, Fanhui Shi Weixing.
Which they operated from the 70's until the mid 2000's
One interesting feature was the heat shield.
"A novel feature of the spacecraft's re-entry module was the use of impregnated oak, a natural material, as the ablative material for its heat shield"

Of course this was re-entry from LEO, not at interplanetary velocities.
