New T20 Spreadsheet Tools

When I try to download these files I get asked for a user ID and a password...are there generic ones to use?

Never mind...I got those password prompts when I left clicked on the links...but by right-clicking and Save Target-ing I got the files no problem

That's because when you just click on them you try and open them in Read/Write mode - my hosting service doesn't let you do that unless you have a password (rather sensibly). I could just put the files up as .ZIP files, but they are small engouh not to bother, and I always find it annoying to download .ZIP files and have to unzip them.

G'day,

The T20 Starship Design Spreadsheet v1.6 is now available on my website:
http://www.falkayn.com/traveller/

Changes in this release:
1. Corrected issue with External Docking Mounts being ignored for maneuver/Jump calcs.
2. Came close to completing the mixed turrets section, with help from Jeff Sandmeier!
3. Made the assumption that in a mixed turret normal missiles are used.
4. Made change to ship's computers as per THB Errata-6, added PP to description.
5. Made Autodoc change as per THB Errata-6.
6. Made Airlock change as per THB Errata-6.

Enjoy!

The Power Points seem way off. A ship that normally produces 200 EP is now showing around 750 points left over.

Any fixes I need to know about?

Btw, a fantastic help and I thank you!

Mea culpa! I used K14 for a hidden formula, but it is also summed (unnecessarily) into the EP total. Change the formula in K148 to:
=SUM(K26:K146)-IF(K35>K38,K35,K38)

Thanks for pointing that out!

EDIT: The website copy has been corrected.

Ah! That is much better:) Talk about your extra power to boost weapons, engines, and your coffee juice maker! My party would have loved it if I had handed them the sheet at the game

Thanks for the fix!

Have you done any small craft design with this sheet. I think the agility formula is off. I keep getting zero agility unless I put a huge power plant in the craft. I tried using the data from the T20 handbook for small craft and I get similar results.

Shadow Bear,

I've done a number of fighters, although not with the latest version. How many EP is your powerplant putting out, how many Gs are you wanting, and what ton ship are you designing?

EDIT: I re-checked this last night and it all seems hunky-dory.

</font>[/QUOTE]The Pinnace TL10 Page 316 of the T20 handbook states Agility 4 with a 6 EP power plant and 5-G acceleration. The spreadsheet gives an Agility of 2 with the same power plant.

The Launch(Lifeboat) TL9 Page 312 of the T20 handbook states agility 1 using a .4 EP power plant and 1-G acceleration. The spreadsheet with the same give 0 agility.

It seems both of the craft have an empty triple turret installed as well as an empty missile magazine. Neither of these items show up on the spreadsheet. This tends to change the total costs as well.

Mind you I think the spreadsheet is great!

I checked the errata versions of these, and found they are probably both using the non-standard agility formula. If you go to p.266 of THB, you'll find ship's agility explained, along with two formulas. The spreadsheet uses the first formula, primarily because the second optional formula is just there because it is 'easier'. The real difference between teh two occurs when ship tonnages are less than 100 tons, in which case the first formula treats Agility = EP, rather than using a calculation that multiplies the EP by 100/tonnage, which is what the other gives.
