I’m looking for an abridged version of the nature of the Virus and what happened during the virus era and the attacks. Has anyone done a continuation of the Traveller history using the rebellion and the new era? Or, has it become a universal never happened.

One of the writers of T20 is currently working on M:1248 which expands the TNE timeline. One what he has hinted in the TNE forum it really sounds interesting.

There was a supplement for MT called (IIRC) Survival Margin which basically told the story of the Rebellion as a series of TNS news stories, from the assassination to the point where Virus started infecting TNS bulletins.
The last few news flashes are particularly worrying as they become more and more garbled by the Virus, making it quite clear that it's already too late for anybody who's reading them to protect their computer...

Can I suggest you nip over to the BARD ( www.donport.com/bard/ ) site to check out the best TNE resource online - it includes (ISTR) a collection of all the TNS messages from this period.

2ndly the best advice is beg, steal, borrow, buy a copy of survival margin for the background - one of the best Traveller supplements ever (IMNSHO) and the best for setting a scee and tone.

In my view Survival Margin is the first and the last thing you should get for ideas about TNE. Wait until MJD releases his new version and read Liam Devlin and friend's posts on these pages. The rest is tripe written by the man who killed GDW and tried to kill Traveller (only called DN to the survivors of that onslaught, his full name shall not be mentioned).
