Hi

I'm a lurker who finally registered.
I have been playing RPGs since 1984, and Traveller was actually the second RPG I ever tried waaaay back in 1985. I don't play much these days, but still cherish my Little Black Books.

My other games of choice are RuneQuest, Call of Cthulhu, and Castle Falkenstein. I also own a lot of other systems, but it's not so much "collecting" as "amassing". But I'm trying to weed it down currently.

I'm also into photography, the old fashioned way with actual film, and I do my own processing and printing. Other interests are aquaristics, music, and cooking. And books, lots of books.

Well, thats me.

I also became an active poster recently, after years of lurking and some earlier participation under a different name. Welcome!

I entered the realm of digital SLR photography last year, somewhat reluctantly (DP hasn't caught up to conventional photography on all fronts yet, imho). I'm very much the amateur - still learning about photography fundamentals, etc.

Welcome, Magnus! Bring back the LBBs! Been using them myself since '82.

There are plenty of good photography websites out there; my personal favorite is the Photography Forum at Renderosity dot com. Registration is free, but you must log in to view the galleries and participate in the forums. You'll find a wide range of work there, from beginner to pro, and the folks there are just plain nice. I highly recommend the site to anyone interested in photography, digital or old school, at any skill level.

Hola Magnus.

I'm also into photography, the old fashioned way with actual film, and I do my own processing and printing.
That is something I've wanted to do for a long time. I shoot almost exclusively digital these days (My Flickr), but only because of cost. I had to sell my beautiful old Canon AE-1P recently, but I still have my Olympus XA2 shooter (such an amazing little range finder), an original Holga, and a Brownie Hawkeye.

Falkenstein was one of the best Narrativist games ever. I think it's a classic that doesn't get enough credit.

LBBs:

I would give pretty much any appendage I have to see them return. Even if Traveller 5 would be produced in perfect bound editions, I would be terribly happy to see the return of the 5.5 by 8.5 black cover, two-color, Swiss inspired hottness of the LBBs.

The little mock ups at the bottom of http://www.traveller5.com/ look so nice.

They really, Really, REALLY do! </font>[/QUOTE]Then you may be disappointed. Not that the product may not look great, but it won't look anything like that.

The latest I read was it will be a Beta release on CD this summer-fall and then early 2008 in print as a full size main book and digest size player's book.

Nikon FM (the only thing the battery powers is the light meter), new in 12/1982.

Still works fantastic.

Removable motor wind & flash, 50mm fixed lens, 35-105 zoom lens, fixed 135mm lens, doubler that can be used with any of the above (or not).

A true classic.

Welcome aboard! Can't guarantee you'll find a game near you but you can always talk Traveller and sci-fi here.

Traveller5 is indeed in development, Marc Miller is working on it with a closed group and the current word from him is to expect PDF versions of the rules sometime towards the end of the year, with a print version early to mid 2008. A lot of the material for T5 that is floating about is very old and has undergone changes and significant expansion, but it can give you a general idea of what the base system is like.

Feel free to jump into any of the forums that strike your interest and ask questions. Lots of friendly folks around who can usually give you an answer or at least point you in the right direction.

You are not me MagnusW, i am MagnusT (also Gnusam...).

But welcome anyway!

Ohh, any relation to SISA? If not, stop by, the "Svenska Institutet för Strategisk Analys" certainly needs more 40+ dudes...:)

(unlike us manly 30+ dudes)
