So, Cap'n Blackie and the crew of the Running Boil are well into the latest adventure you the GM have planned for them. Your trouble is that it's all been too easy.

They've found the survey data hidden among old tri-dee recordings of I Love Liirkirkungezengwojohowitz. They tracked down Eneri Lime to his hideout in the Leedor sewers and "interrogated" with a length of vacc suit hose. They've dodged Vargr corsairs, Arekut and Oberlindes trade war mercenaries, and even that pesky hotel bill from Aramis. Now they've hidden their ship on Vanejen and are sailing towards the Big Jackpot.

What's a GM to do?

Here's some inspiration

Even Cap'n Blackie won't have enough guns for something that poops that big!

Animals and animal encounters are a little discussed part of Traveller, which is a shame seeing the game has a wonderful system for creating them.

BG,

Believe it or not, there's a planet with a frightfully dangerous fungi-based biosphere in the Deneb Sector. It's somewhere in the Pretoria subsector I think, but Hans Rancke will know for sure.

The planet had a great write-up in one of the later DGP magazines. The population lives in domes naturally, but many hardy (and clinically insane) types routinely brave the biosphere outside to look for and harvest a variety of fungal types. There was a listing of the various protective suits these mushroom hunters wore and the many levels of decontamination they'd go through upon returning.

IIRC, the article also listed several varieties of the growths these lunatics routinely risked their lives for and the uses those growths could be put to.

Just reading the article made me want to buy some Tinactin.

Bill

Enaaka (Deneb 0203). Yes, that was a great write-up. From MegaTraveller Journal 1 and written by William Keith.
