MT Vehicles

High Passage magazine had Urshag's Fighting Vehicles (or was that Far Traveller?) Hmmm..... and featured Striker designs.

Anyone know of a good Striker or MT vehicle design tool that works well/is accurate/produces seemingly legal vehicles?

I don't mind design fun, but I'd much prefer having a program to facilitate it.

It kinda depends on what kind of software and operating system you have and if the T4/CSC used the same system (I can't recall, I do think they were pretty close though).

The only ones I remember and can still find are:

A little excel spreadsheet a friend put together. I never used it so I can't say how good or complete it is and he hasn't updated it, worse his site seems to have been finally and just recently yanked by yahoo. Good news is it looks like it's still on The Missouri Traveller Archive. It's in the spreadsheet folder and then towards the bottom (vehicle.factory.xls). I think that's the one, could be another with the same name though.

Or if you have a (older) Mac (os7) there's Rob Prior's great program Infini-V, used to be available (should still be) from BITS and maybe elsewhere.

Beyond that I don't recall any and while there must have been other spreadsheets around my google-fu is weak tonight or they are not to be found

I could only run MAC programs if their was a WinMac emulator.... (scary concept that, likely to give me nightmares).

Just as a more general note, it is a pity more of our hobby's software isn't written in Java or something else platform portable.

There are some WinMac (or is it MacWin ) emulators out there. I used to have a bookmark for a free or trialware version but have misplaced it. Pretty sure I emailed it to a PC friend so I'll drop him a note and see if he still has it kicking around on his system.

Indeed. Both of the above were made when it was perhaps tougher to do, I'm not sure.

There was about the same time, a very sweet Java applet (web and downloadable) that did ships using the QSDS rules for T4. Alas I lost my copies in a crash. Backup backup backup, when will I learn that one backup is not enough? (that backup got eaten in the attempted restore when my Zip drive ate the disk the same day my hard drive went bonk instead of whirr ). The original had also disappeared from the web by the time I was back up and running.
