MT Starship Combat

SOC-14 1K
Is it any good?

Is it playable? Debugged?

Is it a sane reorganization of Mayday/Highguard/Book II or does it muddy the waters even further?

Playable.....yes but debugged not really. And your right...it is a strange hodge podge of book 2 and highguard elements. The best advice I can give is to run a Scout Courier versus Free Trader scenario to test it out. If it doesn't feel too grognardy (a la TNE combat) then build it up from there.

Two things that are problematic:

1: It is not a newtonian vector system.
2: It is High Guard based. very little isn't HG in it, save for conversion to tasks. I can't see ANY Bk2-isms in it, and I've used it.

The real tests:
1: Scout vs Type A
2: 2xPC vs 6x TypeA with maxed out turrets.
3: destroyer vs Destroyer.
4: Cruiser vs Cruiser
5: Naval Squadron vs Naval Squadron.

One other thing: HG ships can be substituted in with no changes; it's that compatible.

Maxed out turrets: Triple Laser or Triple Missile turrets. Or Dual Plasma or Fusion. Plus the needed auxillary power to run them. For the type A, that would be two turrets at those rates.

Okay. Thanks, Aramis.

I was wondering, since I've seen triple turrets with one missile, one laser, and one sandcaster in them.
