Mt Cd-rom

What, exactly, is on the MT cd? I went to Far Future and the link sends you to a pdf describing MT. It does list the canon for MT but doesn't actually say that those books are included on the cd.

Other cds, CT, 2300 all list the contents of the cd.

and as cwfrizzell asks, has the cd been corrected?

It's supposed to be
Player's Manual
Ref's Manual
Imp Encyc.
Ref's Comp.
Reb. SB.
Hard Times
COACC
Knightfall
Fighting Ships of the Shattered Imperium
Arrival Vengeance

All the above are supposed to be in PDF.

Thanks so much for the speedy reply. The 'Official Guide to MT' that the Far Future link sends you to when you click on the CD format lists

Players Manual
Referee’s Manual
Imperial Encyclopedia
Referee's Companion
Rebellion Sourcebook
COACC
Fighting Ships
Knightfall
Hard Times
Assignment Vigilante
Arrival Vengeance
Astrogator’s Guide

So everything except Astrogator's Guide and Assignment Vigilante are included.

Again thanks for the speedy reply

I don't know, those two probly are on it, too... I just mentally blocked them.

Mt Cd

Hi Chuck,

All GDW's MT products are on the CD (including Astrogators guide to Diaspora & Arrival Vengeance). The PDF:s were made from scans of the actual books.

Unfortunately the quality of some scans are not so good, and some tables (that were black text on grey background) are almost unreadable (I suppose they scanned the books in B/W mode). So...some re-scans would be nice, yes. Still, it's a very nice package, if you're into MT.

Also, I would like to see a CD with the Challenge MT articles collected in one place (like the 2300AD CD and the JTAS CD).

/doc.

Ah. Thanks for the update. It's pretty much the whole enchilada then... excepting the DGP stuff of course.

There were a couple non-GDW/DGP MT products... one fanzine I know of (as it shipped issue 1 with some MT product) for certain.

I just thought it was time to bring this up again - does anyone know if a new version of the MT CD-ROM has been produced yet? That is, one which fixes all the problems with unreadable scans?

I really want to get this product, but not if it hasn't been fixed yet.

'fraid you will have to wait until after T5 for any, if any, movement on that. The supreme irony in all this is that fandom could have corrected the problem but Marc must have signed yet another contract that stipulated that he work for X company by signing over his rights otherwise, we could have seen all this completed along with all emphermal and quasi canon all sewn up.

And the Mega T5 CD ROM looks like it might have many of the flaws of the original T5 design intact. One just hopes it is not 1000 pages of solid text punctured with the drawings that he has been selling on eBay otherwise loyality will quickly switch over to the OGL.

Just as an FYI I just received the MT CD-ROM. Any time there is boxed or shaded text it pretty much appears as an unreadable blob of ink. So it seems the problem remains.

I'm guessing some of that boxed text had stuff I'd probably be interested in reading.

Absolutely. In Hard Times it's often tables to roll on. Send Marc an email, just to keep him aware of the problem.

I have the MT CD. If you zoom in to about 400-600%, you can read the outlines of the letters and numbers in the tables. The data is there, it is just a pain to access in places.

I had no trouble getting the data on Fusion Rocket engines from the splotchy grey tables.

What I would really like is a place to get the missing pages. All of the CDs seem to have a few pages gone AWOL.

How appropriate... the MT-CDROM needs errata.

Seriously, though, it does need errata. Or preferably a Release 2, with a couple little extra goodies and a "pay only US$5 plus shipping" coupon for current owners. Ask Marc to put this on his to-do list, if it's not already there (I'm 90% sure he knows about it).

MT Challenge articles on the MT CD????

I just mailed Marc about making a CD with all the Challenge MT-articles on. He replied that they're already on the MT CD.

Well, not on MY MT CD anyway....

So, I wonder, are there several versions of this CD. I bought mine immediately when it came out, so it's a first edition...

Does anyone know if the the MC-CD has the MT Challenge articles? That would be something significant, enough that I might be willing to try to read the tables I don't have hard copies of, worth purchasing.

As it is I'm interested but won't buy the MT CD. It's too broken from what I read.

Whatever happened to the re-issue of the 'corrected' MT CD-ROM? I'm still waiting for that. There was a thread hereabouts which was collating a list of problem pages.

Mine too. More in a later post...

Let's wait a couple more months. Once Marc's attention is off getting Traveller5 'beta' out the door, then he can focus better on the CDs.
