MT cargo prices

Murdoc

SOC-12
This is something that's always bugged me and turned me off of using the trade rules. Now, I may well be missing something, so I'm looking for a correction if I am, but if not then perhaps an explanation to make this a bit more paletable. The flowchart says to start with a base cost of Cr4000 per ton (or 5000 when selling), and then do all the modifications. However, there doesn't seem to be any modification for the type of cargo it is. Apparently determining the type of cargo is just for seeing what hazards they might bring. Is there something missing here that does this, or is this some sort of deliberate thing to just speed things up? I just checked my MGT and it has different prices for different things. (I'm not trying to bash MT at all since it's still my preferred system btw).

It's almost exactly the same system as CT Bk 7: Merchant Prince. TNE also works exactly the same way.

Although I've got a variant system somewhere that changes all that... Hmm... that used to be in my MT files... but it's not right now.

Ah, so this is the way it was intended then. A pity, but I suppose that I have MGT to use now for that at least, or perhaps Don's system if he find it? I wonder how T5 will deal with it... I also like how MGT's system includes a random factor in the buying price as well as the selling price. This kind of represents local "demand" as a factor. Good stuff.
