Moon rovers

Hands down the weirdest rover ever to grace a drawing board was the Lunar Worm of 1966, which was designed to literally crawl along using a series of built-in bellows that dragged it along like a tomato worm.

Never used on the Moon, it had great success as an export item to planet Arakkis.

I always wondered how those "low-tech desert dwellers" defeated the "high-tech exploiters"!!

The Fremen really had a very large industrial infrastructure buried under that sand... and played the "Worms" aspect purely as a front for their real civilization.

Oh, you poor people...of course the Fremen have a secret industrial base, that frictionless liner is in itself like what TL B at least?

And thanks for this thread, I sooooo love the Apollo Program! I was to young to actually catch Mercury and Gemini, but I did watch some of the last launches...I totally remember my mom getting me up at like 3am to watch a launch that had been on hold since 1930-2200 when she put me to bed with a promise to wake me when Countdown resumed....which she did.

I miss the Space Program in the US....:( I hope we go back, and soon, like before the damned Commie Chinese get there, read to much RA Hienlien...one word folks, well one bad and one good, bad first: Mass Drives, and now the good: Loonies! I wonder if the Party has read Bob too, hope not...
