MegaTraveller CDRom?

Would you be interested in purchasing such a CDRom for $40.00?

Agreed, Casey.

Avery's going to do what he's going to do, and I only hope that, whatever he does, I can get MT reprints out of it. We are but a small vocal contingent and less than one percent of the market he's selling to.

Still, we are an enthusiastic small vocal contingent.

We Can Hope,

Here's the thing: In theory, based upon those expressing a preference, the generl selection of traveller potential fans should look something like the ratios on any given traveller website's fora, provided the fora are not subset restricted.

(IE, yu can't count FUDGE Traveller Nuts on this board, since there is no section for "Homebrewed Traveller Flavors".)

GURPS is underrepresented... but GURPS is also divisive amongst grognards... some love the details, some find them nuissances.

That we odd few are so decidedly FOR a digital version, and also are interested because we still are making new MT players from scratch.... that's telling. That many of us essentially decided that nothing post MT has been "valid", well, that alos is telling...

But MT was brutally killed by GDW... in favor of a mechanically very distant cousin... yeah, it borrowed a bunch, but it was no longer a "Clear Descendant" in the same way that Supremacy and Advanced Civilization are derivatives of Risk... Supremacy uses the same basic ideas, but civ is wholly different ideas for the same goal: being the most powerful nation in the world. That all later editions have ignored MT, it is amazing such a high percentage of us still use it as our primary traveller.

(My ideal traveller is essentially MT with T4 psi, and T20 trade and commerce.)

Straybow,

MT was a true attempt at "CT Advanced" which unfortunately tied to a moderatley disliked setting change.

MT tries to integrate CT Bks 1-7, Supp 4, 8, and 11, Striker, and the DGP Task system. CG from Bk2 is enhanced to produce characters more ballanced with Bk4-7 characters.

T&C is educed solely to Bk7.
Combat mechanics are derived from striker (cross-check pens and armor...), and tied to Bk1 range bands. Damage is separated from pen for realism and survivability.

The real problem was the only real innovation of MT: Interrupts and sequencing. Ugly. Very fun, once you know what you're doing.

Also, problematic for many were the changes to Jump Fuel... (5x JDrive Volume for max jump; J1 is unchanged, and still 10%, J2 and better are thus reduced from CT.

One last issue many CTers have: MT defines that the MDrives drives are gravitic in nature; CT didn't state it (but it was not an uncommon assumption).

Obviously only Avery, and perhaps Hunter, can say for sure, but the indications are that something will be forthcoming in the next year or so. I can appreciate that Marc & co. are playing things close to the chest right now until their plans are more concrete, rather than raise false expectations.

It would be nice to see MT and other products on CD.
Like TNE or 2300AD. How about all of the Challenge issues!

For me, I dropped MT because of the time required to do starship design. I liked the CT 15 minute ships.
But I use MT material and TNE material extensively
in my campaign.
