I actually own the first 2 Gurps Traveller Alien Races books, so really don't have much need for background material.

I've built a CT, MT, TNE and T4 to GT character statistics and skills converter using a MS Excel 97 spreadsheet that in theory appears to work. If you would like and you can open Excel spreadsheets I can send you a copy for testing.

Additionally, Greg Svenson has created MegaTraveller Character Generator (MTCG) utility for DOS that works in Windows 98 and XP.

Yep. Got that one already. It's an excellent tool.
