I have been trying to put together a TL8 4cm 8 barreled autocannon using the rules in FF&S1. I have run into a few "difficulties" which you may be able to help me with.
The muzzle energy of the projectile massing 2.51kg with velocity of 3000m/s works out at 11.295 Mj.
1. Energy required per shot according to the formula in the mass driver section works out at 11.295 x 4.5 = 50.8275 Joules which seems a little low to me extrapolating from the equivelant formula in the Gauss Weapon section gives 50,827,500 Joules or 50.8275 Megajoules which seems rather high.
Now the rate of fire for this weapon works out at 50/round so energy input is either 0.000508275 Mw assuming the Mass Driver formula is correct or 508.275 Mw if the second is correct. In either case this is a very wide discrepancy. Any thoughts?
In addition the formula for RoF for all autocannons seem to remove any benefit in having two barrels. Ae these formula correct?
I have checked what errata I can find and can see no mention of a problem with either of these. Have I missed something or misread something?
