Mapping a new universe

Not currently adding any new planets as i am going through my spreadsheet and finding errors, no links from Sub-Sector maps to planet pages, etc.

Haven't found too many... almost half way done.

All planet maps and links to them from sub-sectors are done.

Whew.

Still need to connect empires, hegemonys, etc. with trade routes, do better on the downports, etc.

But I think I'll take a rest first...

The problem I would have is being able to read it. I looked at your page, but unless i could come up with a way to print it as a series of pages, I wouldn't be able to read the text.

CC2/CC3/CC3+ can do Isometric, but not true 3D. There is a Perspectiveas add-on, which i have, that could be used, but I am doing my ATU as flat.

The Breloss Star Cluster is 7 layers thick, layers 1 through 3 and part of 4 are left to do. Drawing it so I can visualize it as 3D hasn't been worked on yet.

There are planet symbols that can be placed and adjusted for position above and below the galactic ecliptic, but I haven't used them.

I was thinking about x-boat paths for the Breloss start custer. It looks like I will have to map vertically so its clearer.

I did make a mistake in an earlier post. I have done layers 5, 6, 7, and part of 4 in the star cluster. Not 1 through 3 and part of 4 as mentioned before.

I did a search on my site for UWP and UWP: with the colon... and got two different results. So somewhere are two UWPs with no colon.

Also looking at adding additional planets vertically so I have more than one planet per hexagon per sub-sector. Not sure what that will do to the planet count in the cluster, but its 300 of 618 uploaded so far.

I noticed people checking my site from my .sig url in this thread.

So an update. As you can see from my .sig I have been editing/creating/going over the UWPs on my site. A bit over 81% checked/done.

I found more errors than I like in my Breloss Star Cluster, level 4. Big list of planet, sub-sector, and sector edits on my What is new page.

I probably need to take a break from editing my site, I found errors I accidently put in while checking for errors about a week ago.

In case anyone was wondering why the number of planets on my site dropped, and the uwps increased:

I finally got it all straightened out. The site software search searches the title of each post/article and the body text.

Counting them by hand, and noting in my spreadsheet which planet has a uwp, I found there are 1246 of each. The number of planets was being miscounted by the blog software search. It looks like it looks at 'Planet:' and discards the ':' in the search.

Now I can go back to mapping and maybe make more downports.

The site search for the word Planet gave me 1265, when I have 1246.

I will be stopping work on my Traveller site for some amount of time. I did upload more maps, added UWPs, etc. to the current total in my .sig.

I did download the Starports! pdf in another thread. I'll look that over and see if I can improve my starport/downport maps.

JimMarn: Your system needs a way to present stars on multiple layers in the same hex, otherwise it is just a lumpy 2D layout

I keep forgetting about your remark. I do have a vertical map template I can use to show vertical slices of each layer. This would be good for showing X-Boat routs between layers in the cluster.

I also noticed, I had forgotten, I had mostly taken over someone else's thread. My apologies.

Should I start a new thread ?

Entirely up to you, if you're still on topic.
