Looking for Author

Horatius

SOC-12
I"m looking for a Mr Chris Parke. He authored a Milineum's End conversion for 2300/2320.
I would like to include his PDF on my website, of which I"m devoting a section to this conversion. I would like to get his permission to either post the PDF or include a link to his site (which I can't find anymore).

For those of you that have never seen it, Take a look. Its a massive, but incredibly beautiful work. You have to know the old Chameleon Ecclectic game Milineum's End to make use of it, but thats just an excuse to go find an old copy of the work.

If Mr Park finds this, he can reply to me here or via PM.

It made ME go and get the 2nd edition rules set. Millennium's End is for me! :) Now I see it's available in PDF now (along with all its supplements).

ME had quite the buzz in the mid-90's. Excellent layouts and deckplans - slightly distorted figures in the illustrations.

It has a bit of an odd combat system (It has a really neat hit location system made with transparent overlays), and the character creation isn't linear, so it can be a bit daunting.

But the conversion that was done for ME/ 2320 is still brilliant.

I had to create a few new things to fit the campaign, and when I finish the website, I'll present them. if anyone has questions about Milineum's End, let me know. I"ll answer.
Just spreading the word.

The combat system was odd. It drove my friends up the wall to no end that you could "hit but still miss" (you meet the target number, but because of the nature of the overlay, still miss). The overlays were fun, but they never produced enough bodymaps - given there's 3D programs out there, they should have made a bunch of bodymaps for different situations.

Character creation in ME was a bit odd (basketball players, anyone? everyone running around with characters taller than 2m because of the way damage works). That and eternal college students to jackpot skills.

Hey, I am the author of the ME to 2300 conversion. Sorry, I don't check these threads as often as perhaps I should.

I have no problem with you using it, although you will note that it has Marc W Millers usual boilerplate about permission being withdrawn at any time.

And yes you can buy the original ME rules from DriveThruRPG now in PDF format. Personally, its a great pity that the planned 3rd version never went ahead, as I'd have integrated the ME2300 rules with it.

Feel free to PM me with any questions if you want. I do check this site every week or so.

Thanks. I have a complete set of all the old ME books. And your material has been added to the collection. I was forced to create a schism in the Marines, breaking them into Fleet Marines aka Space Marines (nosiree, no ego pumping there) and Colonial Marines, that would bebased on colonial worlds to assist the scouts with the initial survey and provide security. I penciled them into some conflicts as well, just to flesh out the storyline.

Regretably, the website that I was designing had to be put on a temporary hold til december or so. BUT it will go up eventually. The campaign is going well, and we've even attracted a few new gamers. (Fellow player's kids have cut their teeth on ME.)

I don't suppose you (or anyone else reading this) knows where to find ME rules for damaging and destroying vehicles. Pointing a plasma weapon or storm gun at an unarmored truck is one thing, but a light or medium tank is something else.

I have some half written ones I'd be willing to email to you, but they needed a bit of tidying up and finishing off. They were written for ME v3, and so don't really cover 2300, but the basic bits are all there. Glad there is still some interest. If I could break myself away from my current addiction to minature painting, I'd do some more... :D

Well, what I really need are rule for damaging machinery/ robots/ automata. I figured that the ME rules for vehicle damage could be extrapolated.

The PCs are about to meet ED. A 6' diameter brass ball bearing with legs, gauss rifles and a severe attitude problem. Were there rules for damaging the Nightwalker robot in that adventure? I don't recall them being there, but I could be mistaken.

Any suggestion for how to handle such combat would be much appreciated.

Just knowing that somewhere out there exists a v3 for ME instills me with hope for a lot of the games I loved.
