Long-range Forecast for Aides?

dancha

SOC-12
Hey there:

So we know that:
#4 = 76 Gunmen (Military and semi-mil NPCs)
#5 = Against Gravity (???)

In #3 we were tantalized with the mention of a future Aide on Military Vehicles...

Can anyone provide a semi-firm list of possible Aide topics?

That would be very cool...

Hmm...would a sibling topic about _suggestions_ for Aides be useful?

Thanks,
Dan

How about the long overdue and desperately needed companion to TA #1, detailing military weapons, which were hinted at in the THB and ignored in TA #1?

Dave

We need an author for the Military weapons TA.

Hey there, Martin:

I have a couple questions:

1) How well understood is the proposed content of a Military Weapons TA (MWTA)? That is, would the hypothetical author be required to come up with a proposal and all content? Or is there an existing outline, and "all" that is needed is someone to crank out weapons stats and write some text?

2) By extension, is there a goal to make it match very closely with TA#1?

Hmm...I guess I'm just asking: should interested parties present you and Hunter with one or more proposals?

Thanks much,
Dan

PS I should say that I'm simply curious about process here. I'm too busy right now to take on anything beyond my current Starfall Cluster Book assignment.

Ah, sorry. I guess I'd assumed  that both supplements (civ and military weapons) were being developed simultaneously.

In the meantime, can someone give me the stats for the military-issue ACR? ;)

Dave

I have a vague idea of what must go in a military TA, but the wrioter will have much freedom

Travellers’ Aide

Authors are sought for the following “pre-approved” Travellers’ Aide titles. Additional ideas will be considered. If you have a good concept, pitch your idea to the Line Editor at martinjd@globalnet.co.uk.

Author Guidelines

There isn’t a lot of money in it. QLI will pay $250 for all rights to your submission. Payment is due 45 days after publication in whichever medium is first. Publication will be at the discretion of QLI, though permission to publish may be withdrawn by the author at any point until art and layout have been commissioned. Similarly, QLI may in some circumstances choose not to publish after acceptance has been made. In both these cases no payment is due, and the rights revert to the original author.

Ideas and concepts remain your own until accepted for publication, but at that point will pass into the “game domain”. QLI gains the right to publish and reprint your work in any medium as seen fit, and concepts contained in your submission become available for others to use in the same manner as any other official Traveller game materials.

By submitting the draft you certify that it contains nothing libellous and is your own work, containing no plagiarism or unauthorised use of intellectual properties, and created with proper regard to Traveller canon, avoiding areas of “forbidden canon”.

Standards of content and decency will be observed in keeping with Marc Miller’s vision of the Traveller universe. The editors will make any changes seen fit, and will definitely ask you to revise the draft at least once.

Travellers’ Aide volumes will typically be 16-24,000 words in length, or equivalent in the case where the submission has many maps, stat blocks or similar.

Authors will be properly credited in all published versions of their work, except where a trivial amount of the work is quoted as part of a different publication.

Notes: We’re afraid that we’re not interested in anyone’s pet “fixes” for the Traveller universe, nor in variant settings at this time. Travellers’ Aide is set in the Official Traveller Universe, and whatever you may think of some of its concepts, we cannot accept submissions that do not follow its basic structure.

All Travellers’ Aide submissions will be as rules-light as possble. Stats, where necessary, will be in T20 form, though additional Classic Traveller stats are entirely acceptable. It is preferable if stats can be provided by the author, but in some cases these can be created in-house.

Requirements

Adventures
Adventures of length 16-24,000 words are always welcomed. Setting will normally be Gateway Domain in year 990, but other settings will be considered. We are more likely to consider scenarios in the following settings than any others:

· Gateway 990
· Spinward Marches or Solomani Rim 1105-1116
· Mileu 0
· Spinward Marches or Diaspora/Old Expanses 1200 (TNE)

Note that QLI will not be publishing materials in the alternate post-1116 setting used by GURPS Traveller. However, it should be possible to make a “late golden age” scenario sufficiently flexible to be used in that setting.

Features
Military Systems: Weapons, Vehciles and Equipment for military organizations at various tech levels, in the style of TA1: Personal Weapons
Defensive and Survival Equipment: Armor and protective devices, hostile-environment gear, ice, desert and underwater equipment and exploration vehicles, in the style of TA1: Personal Weapons
76 Aliens: Alien NPC templates in the style of 76 Gunmen

Starships
Ship design stats, deckplans, variants, examples in service, background, adventure seeds and/or a full adventure for various vessels:
