Possible basis for anti-grav

http://www.nature.com/news/quantum-gas-goes-below-absolute-zero-1.12146

Yes, I know it's about temperature. Scroll down a bit to this part:

"Rosch and his colleagues have calculated that whereas clouds of atoms would normally be pulled downwards by gravity, if part of the cloud is at a negative absolute temperature, some atoms will move upwards, apparently defying gravity"

Presumably that's due to magnetic interaction with other atoms in the cloud though.

Soviet Cold War map making and the post-USSR market for the same

http://www.wired.com/2015/07/secret-cold-war-maps/

While something like "Google Regina" undoubtedly exists, how often is it updated and what sort of accuracy is allowed to the public? Most of our Google Earth dates from 2004 with only minor and sporadic updates since and civilian GPS is limited to a certain accuracy.

IIRC, LBB:4 Mercenary has rules for converting orbital scans into "chips" for the "map box" described in the equipment section.

Given the sensors and processing power available to even a scout/courier, what sort of "deeper" or topic-specific maps can be produced?

Breakthrough NIST study creates molecules out of photons

Scientists from the National Institute of Standards in Technology (NIST) say they’ve created the world’s first molecules made of light. Their work builds on prior research into the possibility of so-called “photonic” matter, advancing from simpler forms to these new, multi-part structures. They say it’s an all new form of matter, previously only theoretical in nature, and they believe it could be the basis for a new approach to light-based technology.

I still maintain computers are likely to go photonic.

Now take it a step further, if you can have photonic matter, couldn't you have photonic life forms? Or photonic seeding?
