Jump Fire

Just curious if the phenomena known as jump fire has appeared as part of any canon adventures ?

IMTU, this eldritch display has been likened to St. Elmo's Fire, as well as some 'gifted' individuals being able to divine signs and portents when viewing such.

It's been 'whispered' at of a secret initiation in various space going services of a plebe or probie 'riding the lightning' by way of an jump space EVA, a specifically insulated vac suit shielding such persons from the know dangers of that unique environment.

I have a vague recollection of it, I thought maybe one of the stories of The Old Man in DGP's "Starship Operator's Manual Vol. 1" but I don't see it there at a quick glance.

Personally I think J-space is too dangerous. I limit EVA during jump to emergency repairs in the vein of Spock's "Needs of the many." sacrifice and my version of keel-hauling. In MTU it's almost a guaranteed death sentence of the worst kind, it wouldn't be part of any initiation where one is expected to survive. Canon is pretty clear iirc on the serious dangers of coming too close to J-space, shielded or not.

Jump flash has been canon since CT.

There is an artifact called the fire web in a Space Gamer article that can trap a ship using a black globe generator.

I don't ever recall reading anything about jump fire, however.
