JTAS Question

I'm not for sure on this, because I never had a subscription to that JTAS, but I understand it's dedicated to GT with no CT articles at all.

Maybe someone else knows a bit more about it than I do. I do know, though, that all the pdf articles I've seen are geared for GT.

The current SJG JTAS is geared more towards the GTU setting (i.e., Strephon was not assassinated) than the GT rules exclusively. Most every ship or person or planet or creature written about is statted out in GT terms, but most of the background, adventure seeds, and so on are trivial to translate to other rules versions. The overall emphasis of the current JTAS is on drama/politics/adventure tools and opportunities.

And, there are occasional CT stats provided for things (alongside the GT details), mostly at the discretion of the individual article authors.

I have subscribed for so long, I have forgotten when I first signed up...

JTAS Online is geared towards whatever the contributors submit. Lately there has been a lot of Interstellar Wars information, which pertains just as much to the OTU as to the GTU (the two being identical at that time), but of only historical relevance to the Classic Era OTU OR the 1120 GTU.

My own articles are almost all set in the GTU Year 1120, which makes them 99% compatible with the 1117 OTU. The exceptions are historical settings that apply equally to the OTU and the GTU.

If you want pure CT articles in JTAS Online, all you have to do is submit some ;).

For the price, JTAS online is quite a bargain, since you get access not only to the current issues but to 10 years of back issues. There hasn't been much CT content for gearheads, as most ship stats and such have been in Gurps terms, but everything else is so easy to convert that it's not worth fretting over what ruleset it's "for."

IMHO it's barely worth the money and that only because the back issues contain a few gems.

Stuff is mostly set in the "happy, happy" GURPS variant of the Universe with mostly GURPS stats for the ships etc. And in the last month quality has taken a nosedive that would make Stuka-Rudel proud.
